Frye Jane Tall Boot
$398.00 Rachel Zoe's pickwomens tall boots - reviews

Over the Moon!I have been eyeing these ... over a year and finally gave in and purchased them. I own a similar style Frye ... absolutely love the fit and quality of those, that is why I had no hesitation about purchasing these online. In true Frye fashion, these did not disappoint. I am 6'0 tall and wear a size 10-11. I ordered these in an 11. They fit perfectly and come just below my knee with the cuff up as my legs are long. The shaft fits my calves snugly (my calves are a little larger than average but I do not have trouble with most ... fitting) with room for tights or skinny jeans. The leather is deliciously soft, and the slate color is such that it goes with black or brown seamlessly. They are EXTREMELY hard to put on the first couple of times, but I put a plastic bag on my feet and the ... slid on like buttah! I know, I know, I felt silly with bags on my feet too, but they get easier to put on after a couple of times. I wore them for hours the first time and had no discomfort whatsoever. If you are considering these I say GO FOR IT! They are a classic style and will last a lifetime if well cared for.

Classic! These ... classic- great height (not quite over the knee on me- I've got really long calves) but still tall enough to look chic. They're just as pictured in terms of color- ... look a little more weathered. I can't tell if that's the shipping wax or how they'll always look. I expect they'll even out, tone wise, as I wear them in. Overall, this is a great pair of ... go great with a number of outfits and colors- I can't wait for fall so I can wear them out!

cute black ... These ... perfect for tall girls who want a little lift without towering over everyone else. I like wearing them with skinny jeans and leggings. The black leather is pebbled, so they have more of a casual look, ... they still look great when I dress them up to go out at night. I'm 5'10" and these hit just below my kneecap. With Frye, you know you're getting high quality and comfort. One thing to consider is that the shaft of these is great for skinny or medium thickness legs, while someone with large calves will have difficulty getting them on.

Kick booty!I got the slate as I wasn't sure about ANOTHER pair of black...trying to expand my horizons a bit. I put them on with a black bag and a brown and I'll admit....slate is probably perfect for going either way....so that's cool. They're comfortable. I didn't have issues getting them on. Any tall ... have to work a little to get into and these are no exception. I found them true to size and as expected. Can't wait to wear them out!

I''m in love.I've been eyeing these boots for months and I finally broke down and got them. They are even better in person! I got them in black size 10 and they are the perfect ... tall girl. They go with almost everything I own so I'm getting some serious mileage out of them! I would suggest applying a leather conditioner especially around the ankle area because that part seems to crease a lot. Getting them on and off takes some wriggling, but they are so cute I'm willing to deal with it!

Super cute and comfy ... I love this ... had been wanting it for awhile....I finally bit the bullet and paid the big $. I was not sorry. They are super cute and comfortable and look like a totally worn in rustic pair of boots. I'm pretty tall & skinny and I have no trouble putting my skinny jeans inside them. They run true to size....I'm always a 9 1/2 and they fit perfectly. I just might have to get them in another color!

Love These BootsI just purchased these boots and have only worn them three times, but I can already tell it's going to be a wonderful relationship. I didn't realize when buying them that I bought the extended calf size. At first I got a little nervous that the fit was too loose around my calf, but after wearing them once with tights and a skirt, I began to really like the look. I'm only 5'2' and they are hardly too tall for me. They are just the right height. So far I can tell that they are going to take a little wearing in. Nothing that's blister worthy, they just need some time to mold to my foot. I'm so glad I splurged on these boots, this type of craftsmanship is hard to find these days. I just love them!

Love these bootsI purchased the Melissa button in distressed chocolate. They look like they are very worn in. I wasn't 100% sure that I would like that, but I didn't want smooth, shiny boots this time. I love them. The color is so dark that they go nicely with black and brown and also gray and any other color. I am 5'1" and the shaft height is perfect for me. About 1 1/2 inches below my knee. They were easy for me to put on and take off - I didn't have the same issues some have had, but I think the distressed chocolate may already be softened from the process. I bought non skid adhesive grips for the bottom and never once had an issue with sliding or slipping even though the bottoms are slick. My daughter and I went to look at other colors and the more smooth styles kind of look like rain boots at first, but the distressed don't. I'm sure the vintage style would not either. I was very nervous to spend so much on one pair of boots - I'm frugal. But these boots are such a classic style and so well made, I'm sure I will wear them for the rest of my life. I love how they look. I wasn't sure I was a boots and dress type of girl, but I am with these boots! I kept looking at other ... $150-$200 range and nothing grabbed me like these did.I don't regret spending the money, and bought these during a 20% off sale, which did help a little. Go for it!

Gorgeous "Extended Calf Tall" ... I got super super excited when I saw that these ... were extended calf. I wouldn't say I have huge calves. But for some reason Frye thinks "normal" calves are a 13.5" circumference. Apparently I'm not supposed to have any muscle on my legs at all. Well sorry. I do. So these are great! They are incredibly comfortable. The only weird thing about these ... there is an extra bit of room right at the back of the lip of the ... Maybe for someone with really curvy calves? And so taking that as a clue I dont think these ... meant to go up to the knee, but about 3" below the knee... I'm 5'5" and they do not extend up to my knee. If I was a bit taller these ... would be going back. But luckily, it still fits me and i love my other Frye booties so YIPPEEE I now have tall(ish) Frye ...

Beautiful, but not for us leggy gals...These are beautiful, top notch quality boots. The leather is wonderful. They fit comfortably. The shaft is slim enough to not look to loose on thin calves, but not so slim that it's too tight on average calves (like mine). My foot also slipped in and out easily, which was a pleasant surprise. No troubles there! Like most Frye boots, they run a little large, so plan on going down about a half size if you're planning to wear them with thick socks and a full size if you're going to wear them with thin socks. The only complaint I have with these boots is that the shaft is not tall enough. I'm 5'8" with fairly long legs (I'd say on the longer side of average), and the shaft was just too short. There is a slight curve to the back of the ... should follow the curve of your calf, but for me, the curve in the ... too low, and it just looked goofy. I'm disappointed because I have been admiring these boots for a couple of years, but I guess it just was not meant to be.

Beautiful ... beast to put on! This is my first pair of Frye boots. Based on other reviews, I ordered my normal size--7.5. The first time i tried them on, they were really difficult to get on (and i have tiny calves!) and the right ... my larger foot) felt too small. It was really pressing on my right small toes. I thought i was going to have to send them back for a half size larger. But i read more reviews and decided to see if they would stretch out. The left foot was a perfect fit and really comfortable. So, i wore them for 3 days and it did the trick. Now, they fit like they were made for me. Surprisingly comfortable! They are getting easier to put on, too (taking off is still pretty ridiculous, though). I"d say, all in all, this is a beautiful ... worth the extra effort. I am now a Frye fan and trying to justify a second pair (the Paige tall ... has caught my eye!)

Just lovely, but Fryes run huge. (Long review because I think such a high price warrants knowing details of what you''re buying!)I wish I could give these a 4.5 - the appearance is nearly perfect, but all Frye boots have fit/sizing quirks that sort of get on my nerves. If they were cheaper, this would be excusable, but for the price, those quirks warrant a 4. If you're reading the reviews, you probably want to know about those negative or unexpected aspects before spending over $300, so I'll mention those first (but that doesn't mean that the positive doesn't outweigh the negative or that I would change much about these boots). I'm still keeping them, and it was still worth it [...]. NOT SO-GOOD: 1. The soles seem relatively durable (some Frye boots have thinner soles than I like), which is nice, but lots of Fryes have pretty smooth bottoms, so be careful with them on slippery surfaces when they're new - the traction will be questionable until you scuff up the soles yourself a bit. 2. Like with all Frye boots I've tried on, it was tough to get my foot to fit through the ankle of the ... but the pull tabs help a ton. (Getting them off is even harder, but it's worth it. I think that aspect of the fit prevents you from interrupting this really smooth leather silhouette with zippers or gores while making for a good, stable fit once they are on.) 3. Along the same lines, I have pretty average calves - not tiny, but I rarely have trouble with any boots not fitting over them - and I never need a wide shaft ... but these come close to being too tight (just barely enough space to cram jeans in with no room left over), so if your calves are bigger, you may not like these. 4. Most important to know: the sizing. I wear an 8 in almost every flat or heel, an 8-8.5 in most boots (sometimes need extra sock room) and 8.5-9 in running shoes. The 8 in Fryes leaves at least an inch between my big toe and the end of the shoe (even with moderately thick socks). I have a 7.5 in these and it's still quite roomy in the toe box - I could go smaller if I had narrow feet and skinny calves, but if I went down more with my foot shape the midfoot would be super tight. I'm sticking with the 7.5 and there will be nice room for socks and toe wiggling... and maybe insoles because arch support in Fryes isn't great (but then again my extreme over pronation makes me picky). (They might add some of this extra toe room intentionally - I think I'm used to less since modern shoes, especially nice women's shoes, tend to love the narrow toe box, which is what we're all used to, but in the end it's better for your feet if your toes can spread naturally and aren't crammed up against anything.) Now for the really GOOD aspects: 1. Like all the Frye boots I've seen, these have beautiful leather. It looks like you could never wear it out. I have the Fawn color, and I love it. I didn't want a high polish appearance; I wanted a soft looking (but not super distressed) brown, medium dark, and that's exactly what I got. It's not a very warm brown - there's an underlying dark greyish hue - but I like that because the color is really neutral while still being attractive on its own. Perfect and will match about anything. 2. The simple silhouette is really nice (if you, like me, are not a huge fan of cowboyish or overly rugged-and chunky silhouettes). 3. Short girls like me, take note: I'm not quite-5'4" and not leggy (~30 inch inseam), and there are many beautiful knee high Frye ... styles that I can't wear at all because the shaft comes all the way to the middle of my knee. However these hit just where they should! Yay! (Also good for short girls who want knee high Fryes - the Shirley Riding ... [not the over knee Shirley, but the knee high one with two buckles] which has a top that is made so that it can be cuffed down to a reasonable height. (If you're tall/leggy, know that the Melissa boots will probably not come all the way up to right below your knee.) [...]

Great Leather, Nice ... This ... beautiful. Leather is buttery soft and smells great. Fits true to size. Maybe a bit narrow for people with wide feet. I'm 5"2' and the ... hit just below my knee--I kinda felt like a munchkin in them. My mom said she thought the calf looked too big on me (I have a 14 circumference calf and there was possibly 1/4 in. to 1/2 in. extra around.) I didn't agree with my mom considering I would be tucking jeans in--thought it was perfect. still, i felt the rise was too tall for my frame. And, if I'm going to spend $$$ on boots I sort want them to fit perfectly. I love em but they're goin' back.

Beautiful ... too short though These boots were beautiful, great quality leather and would have been exactly what I was looking for, but as other tall people have noted, they just do not come up high enough on my calf. I am 5'8, and these boots just looked odd when I put them on because they hit to low on my calf. I returned them immediately.

Wanted them to work...These boots were beautiful until I tried them on. As I read in other reviews, they were hard to get on and off. I am 5'7 and athletic...with 15 1/2 inch calves. These books fit around my calve ok but if you look closely you can see that the top of the shaft, in the back, curves back in toward your leg rather than just going strait up. That spot on the ... pushed into my calve and made my leg look funny. If you have really skinny legs they will probably work for you. Beautiful durable leather, nice construction and top quality typical of Frye...i just couldn't stand the fit. I returned them and bought the Paige Tall Riding boots and couldn't be happier with those.
