Not for the chicken legged! Just about every Steve Madden ... I've ever tried has always appeared massive on me. As far as I can tell, Steve basically sizes his boots to accommodate some very trendy amazonians (or ok, people from a country where obesity has become an epidemic...) so I should've known better than to order these boots. But then I was like, well maybe that gathered style will actually help disguise my unfashionable chicken legs!---so of course, I ended up ordering them. They actually fit alright because the bulk of the shaft keeps them from falling down (they're slouching on purpose here!). I was also pleasantly surprised by the softness of the leather, which i had not expected due to the pic and reviews. Really, these boots were much nicer than I expected. Unfortunately, rather than disguising my chicken legs, the gathered style added a weird disproportionate bulk to my bony legs (they looked oddly lumpy/bulky on me, which just messed up the line of my body, you know?). At 15.5' tall (in a sz 7.5) the shaft was also a bit too tall for me. But I have to give credit where it's due, because I imagine these boots might look great on someone else. Right now, I'm even feeling a little jealousy towards them.
Surprised! I am absolutely surprised and impressed by these boots. Normally Steve Madden boots look and feel kind of cheap and I prefer Steven by Steve Madden. However, these boots are GREAT! They are supper comfortable and the leather looks great. Obviously, the leather isn't super expensive...I mean these are only [$] but for the price it is fantastic. These boots are very practical and you can wear them anywhere. One more comment on the leather...normally I think that brown leather always looks better for Steve Madden/Steven shoes because the black looks cheaper. However, for these shoes it is completely opposite! I ordered both the black and the brown and I am returning the brown because it looks really cheap. The black leather looks fantastic!
Love/Hate Relationship I love love love these boots - perfect with tights or leggings with a dress or long shirt. HOWEVER, the boots are squeaky. They make a noise every time I move, not just when walking. And, now most people will not notice this, but I'm detail oriented and did. The scrunches on front are not the same. One ... really scrunched, the other is has one small scrunch but is mostly straight. After I noticed this, I went to look at them in the store and they are the same way. Must be the look. Now, like I said, I noticed this, but if I hadn't pointed it out, most people would never notice the difference. Other than those two flaws, I love the boots. Oh, and to a previous comment by someone else, I did not find these boots stiff at all. Very comfortable!
Lover of Heels I am from the burbs, which means I wear high heels all the time even in SF. I tried to be a good city girl and get sensible flat boots for the upcoming winter/fall season. They fit just fine. They were comfortable. But at the end of the day I just wasn't wowed by them - they were just nondescript flat black boots. It's going to take a truly exceptional pair of flat boots to get this lover of heels to strut about at my true height (5'4").
looks can kill The boots are cute, but are not breaking in the way I would've expected. Somehow these boots get more uncomfortable every time I wear them. That's the opposite of what I would expect from a leather shoe. If you only care about looks, and are willing to lose comfort completely then buy these boots.
Not Sure About This ... I'm a huge fan of Steve Madden and have a pair of boots from last season. These boots look great online and the color I'm looking for. When I got them they were a half size too small and the fabric was paper thin and cheap. Looked like the type of shoe you would get at [...]. I returned them. Still looking for a pair of tan boots made out of leather!!
