It has a comfortable fit - you can feel a slight lift in the heel area ... contours to a regular fit in the front. Pants fit inside with ease, ... look just as great w/ a skirt. I ... skinny calfs and ... don't make me look like I'm wearing ... moms ... they're also ... too tight ... can't wear ... w/ jeans.

I wish I could give ... 4.5 - the appearance is nearly perfect, ... all Frye ... fit/sizing quirks that sort of get on ... nerves. If ... were cheaper, this would be excusable, ... price, those quirks warrant a 4. If you're reading the reviews, you probably want to know about those negative or unexpected aspects before spending over $300, ... I'll mention those first ... doesn't mean that the positive doesn't outweigh the negative or that I would change much about ... I'm still keeping ... still worth it [...]. NOT SO-GOOD: 1. The soles seem relatively durable (some Frye ... thinner soles than I like), which is nice, ... lots of Fryes ... pretty smooth bottoms, ... careful with ... slippery surfaces when they're new - the traction will be questionable until you scuff up the soles yourself a bit. 2. Like with all Frye ... I've tried on, it was tough to get ... foot to fit through the ankle of the ... pull tabs help a ton. (Getting ... off is even harder, ... it's worth it. I think that aspect of the fit prevents you from interrupting this really smooth leather silhouette with zippers or gores while making for a good, stable fit once ... 3. Along the same lines, I ... pretty average calves - not tiny, ... rarely ... trouble with any ... not fitting over ... - and I never need a ... shaft ... come close to being too tight (just barely enough space to cram jeans in with no room left over), ... if your calves are bigger, you may not like ... 4. Most important to know: the sizing. I wear an 8 in almost every flat or heel, an 8-8.5 in most ... (sometimes need extra sock room) and 8.5-9 in running shoes. The 8 in Fryes leaves at least an inch between ... big toe and the end of the shoe (even with moderately thick socks). I ... 7.5 in ... it's still quite roomy in the toe box - I could go smaller if I had narrow feet and skinny calves, ... if I went down more with ... foot shape the midfoot would be super tight. Short girls like me, take note: I'm ... quite-5'4" and ... leggy (~30 inch inseam), and there are many beautiful knee high Frye ... styles that I can't wear at all because the shaft comes all the way to the middle of ... knee. Decent I'm not in love with the look of this shoe ... purchased because I wanted a black flat knee high ... It's not real leather, ... not too bad of a dupe. It's comforable and true to size. If anything, you can probably size down. I tend to wear a 7.5-8 and the 7.5 fit well with socks. It's also wide enough to tuck jeans into with no problem. This coming from a person with relatively thick calves ... not overly so). I think this ... would look better in the cognanc color ... so many of those I didn't want to purchase another. I'm satisfied.

I almost returned ... found a very nice pair of {another more expensive brand} for a very good price ... ended up keeping ... figuring I would wear the SM when it rained or I might otherwise get dirty. Well, I ended up liking the SM even more than the more expensive brand. ... comfortable and go with almost everything. ... look great with skinny jeans and a long sleeved snug fitting tee. Or skinny jeans and a long sweater. Or a skirt. Almost anything. Really ended up being my go to ... do run a little large. Comfortable, okay for price I am 5'6" and 110lbs. I bought ... pair in 7.5 given strong reviews and seeing the calf circumference was 13". ... little bit loose on me, as I ... very narrow feet, ... not enough to bother me. I also hoped the ... would come up a bit higher, closer to ... knees. You'll definitely need to get insoles for extra padding. In terms of quality, for the price, it's reasonable. The leather is not great quality, however. It claims it is made of leather, ... highly doubtful. Also, after wearing this for 4 days, the front of the ... already showing wear and the black outline of the soles ... come off and ... appear wooden color. So I may already need to remedy ... shoes with some black sharpies. I probably will not purchase ... again, ... price I got it on sale and the comfort of the shoes (WITH insoles), its not bad. I can't see it lasting for more than a year though.
Beautiful, ... I think ... just GORGEOUS! I love the feel of the leather (not cheap looking at all), and the style is so cute especially the way the top could fold down or stay up around your legs. Mine however were too tight on ... calves. I guess ... calves are a little on the muscular/thick side so I didn't ... much luck with ... nice ... could barely fit a finger between the back of ... calf and the ... even without thick socks or even jeggings on. Unfortunately returning :( ... if you ... calves on the thin side ... probably be perfect for you!

Too big I wear a size 6.5 in dress shoes and 7 in tennis shoes so I decided to order a size 7. Bad idea. I should have went with the 6. ... too wide in the ankles and long in length and every time I step my foot slips out the ... gave ... high rating however because ... amazing quality and worth the money. I'm 5'4 and petite and the ... hit me right below the knee, which I think is perfect. I will definitely be returning these and getting a smaller size. If you are on the fence about ordering, get ... just make sure you size down!

Love my new Hunters!!! ... been doing my research on Hunter ... worried b/c many talked about the sizing issues and the "blooming" problem, which causes the ... white streaks all over. I normally wear either a 7 or 7 1/2 in shoe, I'm 5"4 with average size calves, not skinny sticks but not huge either. I ordered a 7 and it was the right choice, the height is perfect, comes just below the knee and still ... room in the calf area with just leggings on, with that said I tried with skinny jeans and ... still fit, just a bit more snug ... that's to be expected. The foot part of ... little big with no sock on ... since ... not lined, I will ... wear a sock so that actually works out fine. One thing I was suprised about was there is absolutely none of the white junk all over the ... like other people ... complained about, I ... not worn ... rain yet so ... may appear in the elements. I bought the original tall in black, not the glossy ones b/c i didn't want ... look shiny, I wanted that matte look....and that's what I got. Love my purchase so far, can't wait to wear ... usually see those childish looking rainboots around here, glad I bought something different!
Fun Rain ... The only reason I chose Hunter rain ... over other brands was the wide selection of welly socks. You could easily find a plain simple rain ... half the price, but when paired with welly socks, the ... worth the extra money. I have four different pairs of the socks and each pair gives the ... different look. All of the previous reviews are pretty clear, THESE ... RUN BIG. I usually wear a size 8-8.5, so I ordered the 8. Even when I'm wearing the thick welly socks in the ... still too big. Another complaint is ... little tight around my calves when I wear ... over jeans. I am a runner, so I have muscular calves. If your calves are bigger than average, you might want to consider getting the wider version of this ... chose the aubergine color. It seems to go with anything. Overall, I like these ... very trendy right now, but ... practical addition to any wardrobe and ... good quality.
Not for y''all big calved gals These rainboots were absolutely awesome. the color the fit. that thing i read in all the other reviews about them not being as shiny/glossy as ... appear in the photos, who cares! ... look good either way! the only problem which was that many reviews said the calf part was nice and wide, but it wasn't wide enough for me. i have big calves (all muscles, of course :) and these ... just did not work out in the shaft area. i mean i can get them on and up. but then ... like a latex gloves, i literally had to peel them off. I was SUPER SAD about this. I will be returning mine in hopes that Hunter makes a ... wider shaft. anyway's for all you skinny or med calved girls, buy these FOR SURE. you will love them. if you are about 13"++ around the widest part of your calf, yeah, no bueno.
Great, with minor flaws I've spent a lot of time researching Hunter ... waterproof, and comfortable even after standing for 8 hours in ... which is awesome. ... run large. I wear between and 9 1/2-10 in normal shoes. I bought a nine, and ... still roomy in the foot. I wear ... thick socks and the problem is solved. I tried on an 8 but it was too snug in the calf. I don't have that problem in the 9. Now, when it comes to color, here's what to expect. Hunter injects wax into the rubber before the ... formed. This is to help protect the latex and keep it from degrading. In lighter colored ... wax is not really noticeable. However, I purchased ... black, and also went to Nordstrom to look at the Hunter ... had on display. All of the dark color ones, including mine from Piperlime definitely show the wax. It gives the ... dusty look. None of ... looked like the ... pictured with that nice glossy shine. And getting rid of the dusty look is not as easy as Hunter says it is. I tried soap and water, I also purchased a rubber UV spray similar to one recommended by hunter, and nothing worked. I also tried olive oil, and had the best success with that, but there were still some streaks, and it took a long time to work in the oil into the ... I'm also not sure if Olive oil degrades latex, so I'm not sure if it's a good idea to use it on a regular basis. My point in this long review is that anyone who buys a pair of dark colored Hunters should just be prepared that ... going to have a dusty look to ... no matter what you do, it's never going to completely go away. If you don't mind that, I highly recommend ... If you have your heart set on the glossy look though, you're going to be disappointed.

Ok..Not What I thoought I had read so many reviews about how great the Hunter ... were, so I decided to purchase a pair. I even did what some of the reviews suggested and ordered a 1/2 size down. I put on a pair of nice thick socks slid the ... 1st thing I noticed is that the heel was too wide so each step I took I felt like my foot was going to slide out of the ... other thing that I didn't realize is that the buckle on the side is only for decoration it doesn't do a thing, so if I needed extra room to get my jeans down in the ... then tighten ... didn't have that option. The best part was trying to get ... off, hopfully you've got some upper body strength or someone there to help, because it's a chore. I ended up sending ... back and getting a pair of Le Chameau Vierzon Lady ... which are easier to get in and out of, have an adjustable strap on the side, and fit my heel perfectly. These ... comparable in price to the Hunter ... Now I'm just waiting for the rain.

Love the color & quality... But these are not made for girls w/ big calves Ordered in Aubergine in a 9. Absolutely loved the color. I normally wear and 8.5 wide or a 9 regular in shoes. The foot part of the shoe was wide enough and would have accommodated ... liners or very thick socks well. The shaft of the ... just too tight. ... fit very snugly alone, but the I couldnt get them on with ... liners. Will have to return and try the Huntress line, which is supposed to be for extended calf sizes. A disappointment since the Huntress colors are much more limited:(

However I have a narrow foot & they are just way, way too wide for me. I can literally kick them off. So sadly I will be returning them. I did discover that the Frye Rider Logo ... made much more narrow & fits my foot better.

Dorado riding ... Great looking ... well made(one of the few Frye ... made in Spain instead of Brazil or other countries).This ... me a bit too tall in the shaft. I am 5'4" and the ... came up a little over the knee which I could have lived with had the calf not been so wide(I have thin calves).I was sorry to have to return them as ... were exactly what I had been looking for.

About the Sizing. . . This is for any of you out there wondering about which size to get. Warning: sizes sell out fast so you may want to order 2 and send one back! After trying many pairs on, here it is: If you are between half sizes the Frye website actually tells you to order a size down. Instead, I chose to follow the reviews I read all over that said to order a size up on this style. I usually wear a size 8.5 & sometimes a 9 in running shoes, so I ordered a 9. It would have worked IF I wanted to wear thick socks (like hiking socks), however the calf was a lot larger too (my calf size is 12.5 inches) and they didn't look right (the two different buckles can be adjusted to smaller/larger but on the smallest hole they look really wrinkled/weird). The actual measurement difference between sizes is only a few centimeters but it is amazing how much of a difference it makes. Luckily, there were still 8.5's left and those were perfect for me. I like the feel of a knee high sock with them and most of those type of socks are pretty thin. As far as comfort with a thin sock they are perfectly comfortable right from the start. Also, the leather in the foot area will stretch slightly. The Frye site also says that heel slippage is normal and will stop after awhile. It hasn't bothered me. I have a flat foot so they are so easy to put on but someone with a high arch might have a harder time. As far as the calf circumference- they could be even a little smaller for me- but they look fine with skinny jeans and okay with skirts. With a small calf, they don't really slouch unless you push them down. The quality is beautiful (although I had to send back one flawed pair in the process). They sole can be resoled in the future so I know I will have them for many years to come. I wish Piperlime had the Frye Leather Conditioners. I get compliments every time I wear them. And that is the end of the longest review ever.
Veronica Slouch I love these boots! I had to order the wide calf, but they are fantastic. They go with everything! It did take about a week to break the heel in, (got blisters on the back of my heel/achilles area) but once they broke in they're perfect! I wish they had a little more traction, the soles look like they'd be less slippery, but living in an area with snowy winters, these boots slip more than I'd like. Overall, a great ...
buy these boots My husband bought me these boots 6 years ago in the slate. They are probably my favorite pair of boots and I have many, many pairs of boots. They look great with everything!! I usually wear a 7.5 but ordered in an 8 (I tried them on locally in black) they were a little hard to get on the first time, even had to unbuckle at the ankle. They took no time to break in and talk about durable, the quality is excellent. I stand on my feet all day as a hairstylist and they are super comfy. I have worn these boots doing the hands on renovation of my salon, working all day, and even had a spray paint can leak silver paint all over them, thought they were ruined. I cleaned them off with paint thinner, which made them stiff and white and chalky, but a little saddle soap and they looked even better than new and softer. I constantly get compliments on them, the more distressed they get the better they look.
Great ... Finally after 1 1/2 years, I've got them. The wait was worthwhile. The boots went on with ease. I wear a 9 1/2, I ordered the 10 and the fit is quite comfortable. I can wear heavy socks and feel unrestricted. I have a thick calf, and I got these on with ease and still have wiggle room to work with. The footbed is cushioned and therefore very soft. I did the plastic bag trick and my feet slid in with ease. Now eying the stonewash for something different! Ladies, this is a great ... last you for years to come. Enjoy!
MUST HAVE BOOTS! I own these boots in slate, and I wear them ALL the time! They go with everything and look so stylish and beautiful. There was a brief breaking in period with these, but now they fit like a dream and are sooo comfortable. I love FRYE, and these boots live up to the quality and style that you would expect from Frye. I get compliments galore on these boots! I don't think I could live without them.

Beautiful ... I have been eyeing these boots for a few years now. They are absolutely beautiful! I purchased these here and they were everything I'd imagined they'd be. Unfortuantely, I had to return them because I do have rather large calves and these ... fit quite snug without any skinny jeans on (just my bare legs). I've always had large calves and often have trouble finding boots that fit. I took a chance with these and i'm sad to say that they didn't work out for me. I will absolutely re order these if they become available in the large calf size!
These boots are beautiful BUT... These boots are absolutely beautiful. After a year of lusting after them, I finally received them in the mail yesterday. The leather already has a worn in look and feel to it, and I fell immediately fell in love with them........ until I tried to put them on my feet. This is my second pair of Frye's. I also own the Paige Tall Riding in a size 8, which was a perfect fit for me from day one. After reading other customer reviews, I ordered the Veronica Slouch in an 8.5. When I tried to put them on, I had a very difficult time shoving my heel into the ... Once I got them on, I could feel my toes beginning to fall asleep. The problem with these boots isn't in the length, it's in the tightness of the ... around the bones in the top of the foot (this is also what causes difficulty in putting them on). The strap is adjustable, but it's purely decorative. I wore them around the house for a couple of hours last night hoping the leather would stretch a little bit. I haven't decided yet whether I will return them or keep them and hope they will stretch out with wear. I really wanted to love these boots, but they may have to go back.
Worth the money! Frye ... one of the best made ... ever. I ... had many pairs of Frye ... loved every pair. Compared to the Frye Campus ... style runs a little narrow in the toe box. The leather will give and break in with wear. I would recommend sizing up if your foot is wide.
very nice ... soft leather so ... worked really well for me because I ... one foot that has a width problem. The soft leather stretched just right for the wide foot to be comfy. The description says tall ... not really tall so make sure you know that ... only about 11 inches high. Surprised ... were made in Mexico, ... am still glad I bought ... cause ... cute and comfortable.

Not That Great I was excited to get ... thinking that the quality of a Frye ... would be outstanding, ... very disappointed in ... upon receipt. The shaft is unlined and way too wide. I'm not sure that the zipper is needed at all and don't see how I could incorporate this into ... wardrobe except to tuck ... jeans into the ... That's too limiting for ... liking and I feel that they're too expensive for this role alone. I am returning ...
The circumference is based on a size 6. If you order a larger size, the circumference will increase.

Awesome ... but.... I really, really like these ... Well made and the leather is lovely. ... hold up well over the years. But... ... difficult to get on and off. Try as I might, I wasn't able to get my foot into one of the ... original pair I ordered, but based also on other reviews, I ordered another pair, and what do you know? ... were slightly easier to put on. I took them in to a cobbler to have the insteps heat stretched. It helped a little, but I'll still have to continue breaking them in. I usually don't go through this much trouble with a pair of shoes and would normally just return them, but I love the looks of them and ... comfortable once ... little wide in the heels, but overall feels true to size. I usually wear size 8.5 to 9, but if I had ordered 9, it would have been too big, though maybe easier to put on. I hold out hope I'll be able to break them in soon!
