Comfie and cute!
Very stylish rainboots. ... definitely run large. I am normally a size 7 and ordered a 6 which was still roomy, I think I would've been ok with a size 5 ... after putting on some thick socks, its do able. The calf width is definitely ... enough to tuck in jeans.

... rainboots were absolutely awesome. the color the fit. that thing i read in all the other reviews about ... not being as shiny/glossy as ... appear in the photos, who cares! ... look good either way! the only problem which was that many reviews said the calf part was nice and wide, ... wasn't wide enough for me. i ... big calves (all muscles, of course :) and ... just did not work out in the shaft area. i mean i can get ... up. ... then ... like a latex gloves, i literally had to peel ... off. Ordered in Aubergine in a 9. Absolutely loved the color. I normally wear and 8.5 wide or a 9 regular in shoes. The foot part of the shoe was wide enough and would ... accommodated ... liners or very thick socks well. The shaft of the ... just too tight. ... fit very snugly alone, ... couldnt get ... liners. Will ... return and try the Huntress line, which is supposed to be for extended calf sizes. A disappointment since the Huntress colors are much more limited:(

Too tight
I had to return ... hunters ... because it was too tight on the calf. I plan to order the hunter ... extended calf sizes, hope that fits. I really want ... return was easy and quick. I plan to reorder from piperlime again.

Beautiful ...
I have wanted these ... 2+ years. And just as I had expected ... absolutely beautiful & obviously ... very wel made. However I have a narrow foot & ... just way, way too wide for me. I can literally kick them off. So sadly I will be returning them. I did discover that the Frye Rider Logo ... made much more narrow & fits my foot better.

Words Cannot Express...
... how "boot"iful these Frye Dorados really are. When I hold them in my hands and look closely at the incredible details, inside and out, I am totally knocked out! And when I put them on and check out how stylish they are, regardless of whatever else I'm wearing, I'm knocked out all over again! They're especially gratifying to me because I'm super hard to fit, being 5'11", with very long legs, 16" calves a bit on the wide side, and size 11.5 feet. It's hard enough to find decent footwear in size 11 and 12, but 11.5? Argh!!! These ... however, run a half size large - not in the width, but in the length, which is something that other reviewers have noted. And they also run a little wide in the shaft, another point in their favor. So, I thought I'd give them a try in size 11, fully expecting, of course, that they wouldn't fit, which is how it usually goes for me. By the time I ordered these, I had already ordered, received and returned eight other pairs of ... various sources. But the minute I put these on, starting on the left, which is my "harder to fit" foot, I experienced that OMG!!! feeling, familiar to anyone who has ever put on a shoe or ... known right away that the fit is perfect. Something that seldom happens for me. There should be a word for that feeling, maybe something like "shoe topia"? My only problem now is how to save up enough cash to get them in another color.

What a nice ...
I bought these Frye ... black last year and I’m very pleased with my purchase. They’re really well made. The leather is so soft. And they were immediately comfortable (no painful breaking in!). I’ve had trouble with ... like this in the past, because my calves are a little wide. But these are nice and roomy. Even with jeans tucked in! Can’t say enough good things about these ... I’m officially a Frye fan.

Dorado riding ...
Great looking ... well made(one of the few Frye ... made in Spain instead of Brazil or other countries).This ... me a bit too tall in the shaft. I am 5'4" and the ... came up a little over the knee which I could have lived with had the calf not been so wide(I have thin calves).I was sorry to have to return them as ... were exactly what I had been looking for.

Frye Dorado ...
LOVE IT!!! I have narrow calves, and these are just rght! Not too wide to wear bare legged with a dress but still roomy enough to be able to tuck my jeans into. The width of the toe was just a little tight at first, but by the end of the first day of wear, ... were perfect. I get tons of complements on them! ... super comfy now. I also like the fact that there are no zippers to distract the eye from the beauty of this ... Great design! I highly recommend the Frye Dorado.

Love the look but squeezed my foot
It's a classic riding ... exactly what I was looking for. The quality of the ... appears to be exceptional. I am tall (5'11") with long legs and the hight of the shaft was perfect. I noticed the foot was tight, especially in the toe and I do not have wide feet. Then after about a minute I noticed tingling in my foot! So sad but ... had to go back. I looked at the other Frye riding ... online and ... all appear to have the same narrow toe.

Great ...
I absolutely love these ... have been searching for a pair of riding ... almost a year, and I kept returning back to these. I've never spent so much money on a pair of ... but the craftmanship and look made them worth every penny. I'm 6'1, and all legs, so finding a ... doesn't stop mid calf is difficult. ... little loose around the calf which leaves enough room for jeans. These are almost knee high (an inch or two short), which is the best I've found. The only thing I wasn't expecting was that ... little "floppier" than ... look in the picture. It isn't a deal breaker, the leather is just much softer than I thought it would be.

Beautiful...but not for shorties.
I read the reviews prior to ordering these gorgeous ... fully aware that ... could be too tall. But, ... exactly what I had envisioned as my dream ... so I ordered them anyway. ... indeed, just lovely ... Stunning, really. But, ... were snug on my very skinny, AA, feet and wide on my AAA heel. Plus, ... were too tall for someone who's 5'3. Sadly, I returned them. But, I had to give them a shot and know for sure....If ... had fit well, I would have thought them well worth their priciness.

this is my first frye purchase. i had been eyeing these ... while and have heard so many good things about frye quality. they look wonderful in person. they do run narrow, so while they are true to size, if you have wide feet, go a half size up. i bought true to size(it was the only size avail. at the time...=) and am stretching them to make them more comfortable. ... also tall ... am 5'3 and the ... come slightly up my knee(not quite below the knee ... also, like other reviewers, the back of the heel is loose. i put in back of the heel inserts(you can get this at any drugstore) to prevent slipping/blisters and this solves the problem. so all in all, while its a lovely ... does require some work to get it to the comfort level that i wanted.

Disappointed
The ... very pretty, but the heel slippage is unbearable and ... quite wide and lumpy around the ankle. I wanted to like these, but ... going back.

About the Sizing. . .
This is for any of you out there wondering about which size to get. Warning: sizes sell out fast so you may want to order 2 and send one back! After trying many pairs on, here it is: If you are between half sizes the Frye website actually tells you to order a size down. Instead, I chose to follow the reviews I read all over that said to order a size up on this style. I usually wear a size 8.5 & sometimes a 9 in running shoes, so I ordered a 9. It would have worked IF I wanted to wear thick socks (like hiking socks), however the calf was a lot larger too (my calf size is 12.5 inches) and they didn't look right (the two different buckles can be adjusted to smaller/larger but on the smallest hole they look really wrinkled/weird). The actual measurement difference between sizes is only a few centimeters but it is amazing how much of a difference it makes. Luckily, there were still 8.5's left and those were perfect for me. I like the feel of a knee high sock with them and most of those type of socks are pretty thin. As far as comfort with a thin sock they are perfectly comfortable right from the start. Also, the leather in the foot area will stretch slightly. The Frye site also says that heel slippage is normal and will stop after awhile. It hasn't bothered me. I have a flat foot so they are so easy to put on but someone with a high arch might have a harder time. As far as the calf circumference- they could be even a little smaller for me- but they look fine with skinny jeans and okay with skirts. With a small calf, they don't really slouch unless you push them down. The quality is beautiful (although I had to send back one flawed pair in the process). They sole can be resoled in the future so I know I will have them for many years to come. I wish Piperlime had the Frye Leather Conditioners. I get compliments every time I wear them. And that is the end of the longest review ever.

I love these boots! I had to order the wide calf, but they are fantastic. They go with everything! It did take about a week to break the heel in, (got blisters on the back of my heel/achilles area) but once they broke in they're perfect! I wish they had a little more traction, the soles look like they'd be less slippery, but living in an area with snowy winters, these boots slip more than I'd like. Overall, a great ...

Great ...
Finally after 1 1/2 years, I've got them. The wait was worthwhile. The boots went on with ease. I wear a 9 1/2, I ordered the 10 and the fit is quite comfortable. I can wear heavy socks and feel unrestricted. I have a thick calf, and I got these on with ease and still have wiggle room to work with. The footbed is cushioned and therefore very soft. I did the plastic bag trick and my feet slid in with ease. Now eying the stonewash for something different! Ladies, this is a great ... last you for years to come. Enjoy!

Wonderful shoes
I was so nervous when I tried on this pair of boots. Almost all previous reviews have told me that how hard it is to pull it on. So I carefully sat down and set aside 5 mins to pull it on. But wow! You just can't image how easy it is to pull it on, much easier than UGGs, than boots with side zip, easier than any other boots I've ever tried. The amazing part is that the shoes won't slip once it is on. I ordered size 6, my normal shoe size, and it is perfect fit. The leather is so soft and it can't support it itself if you let it stand on its own. But when it is on you, it won't slouch around your ankle like other boots. If you like slouch style, you might just play with it since leather is buttery like material. I just don't wanna mess with it and like the way it is now. The color I got is dark brown, it is similar as the picture in website, just a little darker. It is an absolutely pair of low key but high quality boots. Now I am eyeing on other FRYE boots, just can't be satisfied with the fact that I am only owning one pair of boots from FRYE!

So comfortable!
I love these boots so much. They don't need any breaking in - I wore them all over downtown Denver in the snow and they were incredibly comfortable! They also look cute - a little wide in the leg, but I tucked in my jeans and they were perfect. These were my first Frye boots, and I will definitely be buying Frye again the next time I need boots!

Great Boots!!
I have been searching for the perfect boots and I have finally found them!! I love these boots!! I just got them and they are pretty comfortable, but I think, after reading other reviews, that they will continue to get more comfy as they get broken in. They do feel like they may run a half size too small. They just feel a little snug in the heel. I think it might be that they feel "short" because the heel is more narrow than some other ... had tried on. I do recommend these ...

Awesome quality ...
These boots are absolutely gorgeous in person. The weathered gray color is great and the leather is supple and rich. I wear a narrow width shoe so unfortunately these were too wide for me and I had to return. The quest continues...

always love fryes
as soon as i saw this ... knew i had to have them...i went with the brown thinking that they would last longer fashion wise than some of the other colors. The boots fit well and run true to size. They (as fryes normally are) a bit stiff in the foot, but the slouchy calf portion is really comfortable and easy to pull on over skinny jeans. Really well made. Get many compliments!

Beautiful ...
I have been eyeing these boots for a few years now. They are absolutely beautiful! I purchased these here and they were everything I'd imagined they'd be. Unfortuantely, I had to return them because I do have rather large calves and these ... fit quite snug without any skinny jeans on (just my bare legs). I've always had large calves and often have trouble finding boots that fit. I took a chance with these and i'm sad to say that they didn't work out for me. I will absolutely re order these if they become available in the large calf size!

Nice looking, but I''m returning them
I almost like these enough to keep them, but not quite. The leather is very nice and soft, and squishes down just enough. They look and feel well worn right out of the box so you don't have to worry about breaking them in. The two reasons I'm not keeping them are 1) the calf sticks out too much (I have average sized calfs), and 2) they are unlined, which makes them REALLY hard to put on and take off.

Amazing Frye Engineer ...
I love, love, love ... exactly as I was hoping ... would be. This was my first time ordering shoes online and wasn't sure what to do about sizing. I decided to go a 1/2 size up after looking at reviews and am really glad I did. The leather is fantastic, not quite brown or black, ... know it's going to wear in really well. I also have a larger calf and have had no problem with ... were made for some kick- a "censored" stompin'!

If I'm going to spend as much money on footwear as I do on groceries for two weeks, I want to make sure the shoes are near perfect or better. I was nervous about buying shoes online when I've never tried ... so I went to the nearest store that sold Frye ... tried on a similar pair. I have to say, it was the most helpful thing I did. Normally I wear about a 7.5 and occasionally an 8. I decided to get an 8 from Piperlime since ... seemed to run small in the store. The toe box is much shorter than other styles of ... (which was actually what I was looking for) and the shaft hits an inch or so below mid calf. When I made the commitment and bought the ... stupidly excited to see ... my door. ... put ... found ... bit looser in the instep than I would have liked. Fearing I made a mistake, I called a dealer for advice. Many of the reviews on here say ... take time to 'break in' and 'stretch out,' which is really code for "I got huge blisters ... love ... now!" Frye's are supposed to be a loose fitting ... dealer's advice was to put in a pair of insoles. Best. Advice. Ever. ... fit perfectly now. And after wearing ... two weeks, I haven't yet had a blister and don't think I'll see one in the future. Beautiful deep brown color, incredible quality leather, trustworthy name, and a great style. Buy ...

Love ... tried another pair of Frye ... rode up to my upper calf and ... ran small, plus ... were tight. ... Engineer 12R's are awesome, I was able to slide right into them and ... wear great. I haven't had any signs of blisters, as I've worn them for a couple weeks and you can wear ... jeans, casual pants, dresses or skirts. I would say you'd love ... Awesome!
I saw Frye ... magazine and enjoyed the look and style of them. I took the plunge and bought these and crossed my fingers. My feet are a little wide and finding ... fit is rather hard but ... fit perfectly! The color is great, ... look amazing, and the heel's not too tall. The only problem was that ... were sort of hard to put on. But I found that if I put the ... while the ... standing up on the floor and slid my foot in, then it was pretty quick to get on. ... comfortable and stylish and for the price should last for a good long while. I would buy another pair for sure.

Amazing!
... surprisingly flattering! I was afraid they'd be too clunky and manly ... aren't. I don't know what it is about ... both tough and chic at the same time. I'm usually a 7.5 or 8 (due to my semi wide foot). I decided to go for the 7.5 and ... fit perfectly. The 8 would have been a bit too big. I couldn't decide if I should order the 7 to try on, too, since it feels like there is a bit of room in the toe box, ... guess I'd rather have more space than have it be too tight. ... definitely will go with everything! The reasons why I gave it only 4 stars: 1.) The same size may fit differently. One pair of 7.5's I couldn't even pull onto ... foot. While the other pair in the same size (which I kept) pulled on effortlessly. 2) The ... kind of presses on the bone at the top of ... foot. I adjusted the bottom belt buckle to be looser and hopefully the leather will eventually stretch and not be so stiff so maybe it won't press down on it.

Big Attitude in a Little ...
I was hesitant to purchase ... Big purchase for a small, less than mid calf ... - ... gorgeous! SO much attitude in a small package. I am 5 foot nothing and ... perfect for a shorter leg - for the petite ladies, you will not lose yourself in this ... got the dark brown and the picture is very true to color (vintage/worn). The leather is pretty tight, ... any good ... guarantee personality with wear.

Awesome ... but....
I really, really like ... Well made and the leather is lovely. ... hold up well over the years. ... difficult to get on and off. Try as I might, I wasn't able to get my foot into one of the ... original pair I ordered, ... based also on other reviews, I ordered another pair, and what do you know? ... were slightly easier to put on. I took them in to a cobbler to have the insteps heat stretched. It helped a little, ... I'll still have to continue breaking them in. I usually don't go through this much trouble with a pair of shoes and would normally just return them, ... love the looks of them and ... comfortable once ... little wide in the heels, ... overall feels true to size. I usually wear size 8.5 to 9, ... if I had ordered 9, it would have been too big, though maybe easier to put on. I hold out hope I'll be able to break them in soon!

Good investment
I love ... someone with very big calves, I was extremely nervous that ... were going to cut off at that awkward part of my leg that most mid calf ... do, which make my calves look even bigger, ... my relief -- PERFECT. The only issue is that the first time I tried to put ... had to fight for about 10 minutes (literally broke a sweat). Run very small... I'm typically a size 7, maybe 7.5 ... ordered an 8 because I was afraid of the difficult entry/exit warning. SOOOOO glad I did! Also, ... scuff easily ... goes along with the character.

Classic
I get compliments on ... all the time...from women and men. They're a nice thick leather and very comfortable. I've wanted a pair for years and am so glad I finallly got them. My only complaint is that they're too wide, especially around the heel.
