Not for grandma anymore Before I purchased these boots, my perception of rubber boots in general called to mind my grandma's set sitting at the back door, caked with mud from her garden. These Hunter boots have changed my perception forever. Since my purchase, I find them to be functional, comfortable, and easy on the eyes! I think I'll buy grandma a pair. No complaints here. These boots will be a part of my wardrobe for a long while.
LOVE these boots!!! These boots are so comfortable and stylish! They come all the way up to your knee, which is rare for a rain ... rain boots I previously owned are nothing compared to these! These are heavy duty, high quality rubber. EXTREMELY well made!
Great for rainy days! These rubber boots are perfect for keeping you dry on rainy days - especially the "sideways" rain we get here on windy days in SF. I like that the boots are tall, but not too tall for me (I'm only 5'3"). They look great with jeans or with dresses/ skirts. I love them because they are a classic style and very comfortable.
Once again the UK has a superior product I just received the boots and love them. They will do just what they are designed to do, and of course in silver they'll look more fashionable than usual while doing it. I ordered the US size 7/8 EU 39, and in the US I generally wear a 9 in most shoes (very occasionally an 8.5 and my foot is 10", while standing, from toe to back of heel/ankle where the heel rounds out over the sole of the heel itself). With the smaller size (smaller by 1 whole size), I still have almost a full thumb's width of room between my big toe and the end of the toe box; plenty of room for a pair or 2 of wool socks. The ... shaft comes to around 2-3" below my knee (and I am 5'8"), so very petite women may not find these boots comfortable. Also, if you have very large leg calves or are a larger woman (e.g. if you are a plus size), these boots may shove some of the flesh up above the rim of the ... even though they may fit OK, getting the boots off after your skin has been breathing will take some work. These boots measure approximately 15.5" at the outer circumference at the top of the ... rubber is 1/8" thick (not including the decorative braid that runs the outside of the ... top), but since they are made of a latex/rubber compound, there is some stretch. If you buy them and find you might be happier with the larger size, return them and see if the ... shaft is also a little larger. I could only measure the size I actually bought, so these are the only measurements I have.
LOVED them but... I loved the boots. They were very comfortable. I decided not to keep them because of the cost. I couldn't justify the money for rubber boots. My husband loved them on me and told me to keep them, but the frugalista in me returned them.
Caution When Ordering One Size Smaller I usually wear a size 10.5/11 - so, after reading that these boots "run a size large", I ordered the size 10. After wearing them for about 30 minutes walking around my yard, I couldn't wait to get them off. When I removed the left ... found a nickel sized, red, throbbing blister on my heel, and the right heel wasn't much better. I DO NOT recommend that you order a size smaller. I would recommend that you order your normal size. These are rubber boots. They will not stretch or give at all. I am ordering the 11s and I will comment when those come it, but otherwise, these boots are so cute and functional!
Great, with minor flaws I've spent a lot of time researching Hunter boots. They are waterproof, and comfortable even after standing for 8 hours in them, which is awesome. They run large. I wear between and 9 1/2-10 in normal shoes. I bought a nine, and they are still roomy in the foot. I wear them with thick socks and the problem is solved. I tried on an 8 but it was too snug in the calf. I don't have that problem in the 9. Now, when it comes to color, here's what to expect. Hunter injects wax into the rubber before the boots are formed. This is to help protect the latex and keep it from degrading. In lighter colored boots the wax is not really noticeable. However, I purchased these in black, and also went to Nordstrom to look at the Hunter boots they had on display. All of the dark color ones, including mine from Piperlime definitely show the wax. It gives the boots a dusty look. None of them looked like the boots pictured with that nice glossy shine. And getting rid of the dusty look is not as easy as Hunter says it is. I tried soap and water, I also purchased a rubber UV spray similar to one recommended by hunter, and nothing worked. I also tried olive oil, and had the best success with that, but there were still some streaks, and it took a long time to work in the oil into the boots. I'm also not sure if Olive oil degrades latex, so I'm not sure if it's a good idea to use it on a regular basis. My point in this long review is that anyone who buys a pair of dark colored Hunters should just be prepared that they are going to have a dusty look to them, and no matter what you do, it's never going to completely go away. If you don't mind that, I highly recommend these boots. If you have your heart set on the glossy look though, you're going to be disappointed.
Great in any field... I actually use these boots to go out in mucky fields and deep woods, and they hold up great. Easy to clean and surprisingly comfortable given the rubber and height of the boots. They're also great for rainy days in the city, making them pretty versatile. If you're a half size like me, order them a half size down.
Boo for Hunter Boots! I'm so disappointed in these boots. Based on most of the reviews, I thought for sure that I was purchasing what would be a practical yet chic winter ... ordered a size small per the advice that the ... ran very large. When they arrived, the first thing that I noticed was the waxy appearance that some reviewers mentioned. Not only did this make the boots look cheap, it just turned me off right off the bat because they looked more dull gray vs. black. I thought I would give them a try though. Once I put the ... like a rubber suction cup to my skin! It was nearly impossible to pull these off of my leg. Now, I am a short girl with muscular calves but I do not have chubby legs and I felt like these boots were extremely narrow for an adult size. However, if I would have ordered a size up, they would have been too big in the foot. And forget about the Hunter fleece ... socks that I bought to go with them...there was no way I could shimmy those in and still get these boots on and off easily! Kinda sad beause they looked adorable online and I loved the idea of switching the socks now and then to give them a different look. Needless to say, I returned the boots and socks. These might work for you if you have toothpick legs but other than that, don't count on it!
Not a good investment I have owned my Hunter boots for a couple of years and the strap just broke off right below the buckle - it looks like the rubber rotted. I contacted Hunter and requested where I might go to have them repaired and they were not able to assist. I am going to take them to a cobbler, but I doubt they can help. I could have purchased similar boots from [@] for much less money, and wouldn't be so upset if they were to fall apart after 30-40 wears. Or, [@], who also charges a bit more, but stand behind their products with a liftetime guarantee. I love the style, but will not purchase another pair of Hunter boots.
Surprised I ordered these and exchanged them because the first pair looked damaged - black boots had gray streaks and scratches all over both boots. The second pair was worse. If this is a quality inherent in the rubber boots, it should be labeled as such. Not attractive. I am in the process of returning second pair for credit. :(
