Another Amazing Pair of Frye ...
I had been looking for the perfect pair of black ... forever, and I had always loved the Frye Paige Riding ... so after searching forever (and trying not to get another pair of Frye's since I already own 3 pairs), I realized that Frye's were my favorite for a very good reason and that the Paige ... would be the way to go. These ... AMAZING. I have very thin calves so I was slightly worried since some reviewers were commenting on how the ... were great for big calves, but since the leather is very structured and sturdy, it doesn't make the ... slouch at all. It is so hard to find black ... do not look like combat ... hooker ... but these fit the bill. Plus, I love the lack of hardware with leather detailing instead, so that they are not entirely plain but still do not clash with any metals.

LOVE
I just wrote a not so great review about the Veronica Slouch Frye's, so I wanted to write a raving review about the Paige Tall Riding. I got ... Piperlime last year in December. I wear ... religiously in the fall and winter, and ... have held up beautifully. The leather is still as soft and buttery as it was when I pulled ... out of the box a year ago. ... fit comfortably over jeans, ... don't stick out too much when you wear ... sweater dress or leggings. My only two complaints: 1.) ... have developed some creasing at the ankle (lazy ... syndrome). I store ... box ... came in on their side, so maybe ... would have done better if I stored ... upright with a ... tree. 2.) I ordered ... tan color, and the pull on tabs and the tops and insides of the ... have absorbed some of the dye from wearing ... over denim. Nothing too noticeable, ... it's definitely there. Other than that ... great ... would highly recommend ...

The Perfect Riding ...
These are the most perfect riding ... ever. The leather is beyond top quality. Looks great in the picture, andeven better in person. Very stylish, and VERY comfortable, I can fit my skinny jeans into them, and I have thin to athletic legs. I wear these non stop and they still look great. I am am always a 9 1/2, so I took a risk (since others reviewed as small) and bought the 9 1/2. Glad I did, they fit perfectly, even a little room for thicker socks in the really cold weather. I don't recommend wearing these out in wet weather, they are more of a fashion riding ... rather than an all weather riding ... These were worth every single penny and I hope they make them forever!!

They''re worth it
Like a lot of people who have bought these ... hesitant to shell out the extra money for them, but I've also been looking for the perfect brown flat ... multiple seasons now, with nothing that struck me, until now. I got them in Cognac, size 9, which is what I generally wear for most shoes. They fit well -- don't size down. You'll regret it. I thought I might consider putting insoles in them, but it feels too tight when I do that. I also didn't run into the issue of having trouble pulling them on or off, like many others seemed to. As for the look and feel -- the leather looks rich, substantial and 'not cheap'. You can tell ... real deal and will last forever. The shaft height is perfect, ending right below my knee (I am 5'8"). I admit, they are a tiny bit stiffer than I'm used to with ... out of the box, but I imagine a lot of it has to do with the fact that they're riding ... thicker leather than average. I assume that will improve over time, as they've been breaking in gradually over the last couple weeks I've had them. The only reason I didn't give ... 5 stars, vs. 4 is that my pinky toes get a little irritated after a day of wearing them. Not sure what that is about. Other than that, I love ... find them pretty stylish and comfortable. I don't regret the expense one bit.

Didn''t Work
I have wanted Frye ... very long time, and I love the riding ... styles the best. I am about 5'0 and ... were 1 -2 inches too tall for me :( I personally did not like that they were touching the bottom of my knee cap; however, I will say that I have seen pics of other women wearing ... similar style) to where they came up that far on ... did not think they looked bad at all. I am still giving ... 4 stars because if ... had not been too tall for me, I think ... would have been pretty close to perfect.

Not super impressed
Ok, so I splurged and bought the paige tall riding ... cognac. They kept pushing back the delivery so I was supposed to get it in December but ended up getting today. The leather smells wonderful and is very thick. Runs true to size to slightly big. I like the length as I am 5'9". But three things I don't like: The profile shape of the base of the ... not very flattering; I mean, they start the shaft before or at my arch and about 1 and a half inches before my ankle, so that it makes my lower leg look wide from the side at the ankle, sort of like rain ... 2) the heel is so short that I thought I would like it, being tall and all, but it is not very flattering and 3) the extra layer of leather makes the frontal view of the ... very wide, which is also not flattering--at least for me. I normally have long slender legs but ... actually make me look shorter and chunkier, by stopping the visual line that normally runs along my legs (not good for me since this is really my main asset! Lastly, they are just not sexy or cute. So if you are looking for sexy or cute, keep looking! If you want everyday casual ... may work. If ... were way cheaper I would keep ... price I want to like ... WAY more than I do! Bummer I have to send ... back after waiting so long! Maybe sometime I'll try the Melissa Button ...

worth the splurge
This is my 3rd pair of Fryes (I have the Carson riding ... 8" Engineers). The workmanship is consistently good, the leather feels and smells great, and the fit is superb. I usually wear 7.5, sometimes 8. My Carson ... 7.5, and they have stretched out considerably, to the point where i need to wear thicker socks. I ordered the Melissa Button ... 7. They were tight around the toes for the first few days, but they have started to loosen up a bit. I know they're only going to get better. Love these ...

Perfect ...
There are a lot of ... market with bells and whistles, but this is the perfect basic riding ... pair with EVERYTHING. I've only had them for a few weeks and each time I have worn them, someone comes up to me to ask who makes them. You really can't go wrong with a Frye ...

Best riding ... ever!
The Melissa Button ... my favorite riding ... ever. Yes, they are pricey but these ... investment piece. Frye ... last a lifetime. I have owned a pair in black for two years now and just recently got the cognac. I am excited every fall when I can get these ... out of my closet. I live in Texas, so weather permitting I can't wear these year round. I would highly recommend these ... normally wear a 10 in Frye shoes but these run a half size small so I wear a 9.5. You won't regret purchasing these ... They are totally worth the money!

love them!
They are so beautiful and perfect. The leather takes a few wears to break in to where it's comfortable, but they are so worth it. The height is perfect if you tend to have problems with the regular height ... Most riding ... generally come a little too high, hitting the bottom of my knee, but these are perfect.

Love them- worth the price!
If you are reading this, it means you are seriously debating ordering these ... want to tell you, DO IT! You won't regret it. I ordered the Melissa button ... black hoping for a nice, timeless yet hip black ... winter. I wanted something that wasn't too matronly and buttoned up, that I could wear with skinny jeans, leggings, and short dresses. Maybe a bare leg if the weather was nice. :) I also ride horses and don't want to spend the money for riding ... so these will be great for that too- and there is nothing like a little horse poo to make your ... look even more lived in and loved! :) I have always loved the style of the Frye campus but it is a little too biker chic for my everyday need or wearing to work. So I ordered Melissa and I wasn't disappointed! These ... arrived and it was obvious they were a great quality product. Very thick, supple leather, heavy yet flexible and I just know they will wear wonderfully once they are broken in! And the smell! Oh, heavenly! I keep getting whiffs of it and I just smile. :) As for sizing, I am usually a 7 but as most reviewers suggested, I bought a 6.5 and immediately one went on easily. The other one was a little tighter and I had to use the plastic bag trick (I think one of my feet is larger than the other- it wasn't a flaw with the ... They were comfortable right off the bat and didn't rub or squeeze too much with a thin sock and jeans on. I should mention that I have an impossibly high instep and the first night I got them, I wore a thicker sock with my skinny jeans and I could feel the tightness in my instep, but today I wore tights and they were great all day. I am a petite 5'2', 115 with thin calves and the tops of the ... nicely snug so if you have any concerns about your calf width, try the extended calf. Usually high ... like these are baggy on me but these fit well at the top, although by the ankle there is ample room. I love these and can't wait to wear them for years to come!!!!!!!

Sleek, flattering, and beautiful
Truly lives up to the Frye brand name with a modern riding style. I love how these fit and the leather is of course gorgeous, buttery soft, and of superior quality. The leature is strong but not stiff: the ... stand up on their own when not on your foot, but the ankle breaks in nicely. i would say the shaft height goes down about a half inch once broken in. They are a more sleek/streamlined style than a cowboy ... so with my muscular legs, they are very snug with skinny jeans. I do love them with leggings and tights. It look all my self control to not wear these outside when I received them and instead bring them into a shoe repair shop for weatherproofing. I'm so glad I did: while there the store owner showed me another pair of Frye's he was workong on, 25 years old and still in near perfect condition. Take care of your ...

Great ...
I had been looking for an equestrian style riding ... but saw these & thought I'd give them a try. I like the western flair wiithout looking overly "cowboy". LOVE the color cognac. I wore them yesterday for the first time and received several compliments. I will eventually own more Frye ... They were comfortable for a first time wear, and cannot wait until they are really broken in!

Just lovely, but Fryes run huge. (Long review because I think such a high price warrants knowing details of what you''re buying!)
I wish I could give these a 4.5 - the appearance is nearly perfect, but all Frye ... have fit/sizing quirks that sort of get on my nerves. If they were cheaper, this would be excusable, but for the price, those quirks warrant a 4. If you're reading the reviews, you probably want to know about those negative or unexpected aspects before spending over $300, so I'll mention those first (but that doesn't mean that the positive doesn't outweigh the negative or that I would change much about these ... I'm still keeping them, and it was still worth it [...]. NOT SO-GOOD: 1. The soles seem relatively durable (some Frye ... have thinner soles than I like), which is nice, but lots of Fryes have pretty smooth bottoms, so be careful with them on slippery surfaces when they're new - the traction will be questionable until you scuff up the soles yourself a bit. 2. Like with all Frye ... I've tried on, it was tough to get my foot to fit through the ankle of the ... but the pull tabs help a ton. (Getting them off is even harder, but it's worth it. I think that aspect of the fit prevents you from interrupting this really smooth leather silhouette with zippers or gores while making for a good, stable fit once they are on.) 3. Along the same lines, I have pretty average calves - not tiny, but I rarely have trouble with any ... not fitting over them - and I never need a wide shaft ... but these come close to being too tight (just barely enough space to cram jeans in with no room left over), so if your calves are bigger, you may not like these. 4. Most important to know: the sizing. I wear an 8 in almost every flat or heel, an 8-8.5 in most ... (sometimes need extra sock room) and 8.5-9 in running shoes. The 8 in Fryes leaves at least an inch between my big toe and the end of the shoe (even with moderately thick socks). I have a 7.5 in these and it's still quite roomy in the toe box - I could go smaller if I had narrow feet and skinny calves, but if I went down more with my foot shape the midfoot would be super tight. I'm sticking with the 7.5 and there will be nice room for socks and toe wiggling... and maybe insoles because arch support in Fryes isn't great (but then again my extreme over pronation makes me picky). (They might add some of this extra toe room intentionally - I think I'm used to less since modern shoes, especially nice women's shoes, tend to love the narrow toe box, which is what we're all used to, but in the end it's better for your feet if your toes can spread naturally and aren't crammed up against anything.) Now for the really GOOD aspects: 1. Like all the Frye ... I've seen, these have beautiful leather. It looks like you could never wear it out. I have the Fawn color, and I love it. I didn't want a high polish appearance; I wanted a soft looking (but not super distressed) brown, medium dark, and that's exactly what I got. It's not a very warm brown - there's an underlying dark greyish hue - but I like that because the color is really neutral while still being attractive on its own. Perfect and will match about anything. 2. The simple silhouette is really nice (if you, like me, are not a huge fan of cowboyish or overly rugged-and chunky silhouettes). 3. Short girls like me, take note: I'm not quite-5'4" and not leggy (~30 inch inseam), and there are many beautiful knee high Frye ... styles that I can't wear at all because the shaft comes all the way to the middle of my knee. However these hit just where they should! Yay! (Also good for short girls who want knee high Fryes - the Shirley Riding ... [not the over knee Shirley, but the knee high one with two buckles] which has a top that is made so that it can be cuffed down to a reasonable height. (If you're tall/leggy, know that the Melissa ... probably not come all the way up to right below your knee.) [...]

Great ...
I've wanted a pair of fryes for awhile. I first purchased the paige riding ... but did not like the fit, made my calves look wider than normal. I returned and got the Melissa Button in fawn. Great ... color is neutral so can be worn with anything. They're also very comfortable and the craftsmanship is awesome.Would recommend.

Wanted them to work...
These ... were beautiful until I tried them on. As I read in other reviews, they were hard to get on and off. I am 5'7 and athletic...with 15 1/2 inch calves. These books fit around my calve ok but if you look closely you can see that the top of the shaft, in the back, curves back in toward your leg rather than just going strait up. That spot on the ... pushed into my calve and made my leg look funny. If you have really skinny legs they will probably work for you. Beautiful durable leather, nice construction and top quality typical of Frye...i just couldn't stand the fit. I returned them and bought the Paige Tall Riding ... couldn't be happier with those.

Wanted them to work...These ... were beautiful until I tried them on.

LOVE these ...
Love these ... I'm a teacher on my feet all day. Very comfortable. Hard to get on at first, but have gotten easier over time. I wear about once a week on casual day and get compliments every time. Hope to get in black if still available. Pricey but good quality. I'm 5 feet tall, so the shorter shaft is a great scale for a petite person to have a "riding ... look. Most ... come up to my knees!

Great ...
Well I must say, they are worth every penny. Soft and comfy. They are not difficult to break in. I first ordered the tall heath riding ... then returned them for these. The heath was very stiff compared to these. This is my second pair of Frye's (I also have the harness ... am a believer. They never wear out.

Love Love LOVE!!!
I read the reviews and ordered a half size up. They fit perfectly and are so comfy and stylish. LOVE these boots! You won't regret ordering them, I promise.

Very nice!!
Great boots! They have the look of a motorcycle look to them but you can still wear them with some of your dresier items. Extremely easy to walk in. Great for winter weather!

Love these boots!
I wore these boots to work (10+ hours) as soon as I got them and they were hands down the most comfortable boots I've ever worn. They felt broke in, like I'd had them for years. I'm so in love with these boots and plan on wearing them all winter with skirts and skinnies. LOVE LOVE LOVE them!

Riding boots
I am wearing my new Timberland Riding boots today and love them. They were a little tight this AM but as the day goes on they are already stretching out over my foot. I like the adjustable buckle at the top of the calf so I can wear jeans tucked in or have them tighter for wearing only tights. They will scuff a little but I like the worn look.

Great ...
I love these boots. They are the perfect height and circumference. They are adjustable so you can tighten them when you wear tights and loosen them when you wear skinny jeans. The materials are very nice quality and well made. I have been looking for a couple of years for nice brown boots and I finally found them.

Nice ...
The boots fit great, a little narrow though. The leather is nice, but the suede could have been better. They do slouch a little in the calf area. Also the ... looks like its been around, like people have been trying them on. Plus they were placed in the box poorly, could have made it more sturdy. But the price was good, so I purchased. Again nice ...

Great boots.
I ordered these boots last year in brown size 8 1/2 the fit was perfect and so comfortable. I wore them with EVERYTHING!!! I loved them so much I decided to order the black this year however this years style is slightly different and the 8 1/2 was to tight. I exchanged them for an size 9 and the fit is much better, still a little tight but I think once I start wearing them they will stretch into a perfect fit.

Not as expected
After reading the reviews I decided to purchase these boots. I was a little disappointed. The first 4 wears were very painful. I had blisters on my heels and toes. Once the boots stretched they were easier to wear on a daily basis and was more comfortable.

I really wanted to like these, but...
These boots were just too tight. Not so much that I could've gone up a half size, but the top of the boots on my feet seemed to be made for someone with a lower arch, I guess. I also didn't like that the suede part made the boots more slouchy/loose than I would have liked. I want a ... can stand up on it's own, not one that I'd have to pull up each time I stand up from sitting. They did fit my calf perfectly. I liked these boots a lot! Until I put them on... The fit just wasn't right...now have to return these, too. Alas, my quest for the perfect boots continues...

This wasn''t that great
After reading some of the previous reviews I decided to purchase these boots. I am not quite happy that I did. They're not as comfortable as some of the other shoppers said they were and were not true to size. I think I needed a half size bigger but unfortunately I found that out after wearing them outside. After the first day my heel was in so much pain that I had to stretch these bad boys before wearing them again. Not a good buy in my opinion.

Disappointed
The "suede" mid section on these is awful!-- It's rough and looks and feels cheap. Amazingly, the underside of the leather--which is on the inside of the ... gorgeous! It's lush and buttery soft suede with beautiful soft texture. Could something have gone wrong in production? Why would Timberland purposely have the quality side of the leather on the inside of the ... I'm perplexed. I'm sending these back and exchanging them for another pair, hoping that the one's I received have a defect. In every other way these boots are very stylish, functional, and comfortable. The construction and details (with the exception of the suede) are of very high quality.
