Exactly what I wantedI bought these ... grand opening of the Piperlime in Soho, and i'm glad i had the opportunity to try them on before purchasing. First of all, they are the perfect fall ... - made well, great quality leather, and basically everything you'd expect from Frye. But, pay attention to warnings in this review feed about the heel being too tight. I tried on my normal size (7) and ended buying a half size larger becuase the heel was so narrow. I'm petite 5'3" and had never run into that problem before with ... So, just keep that in mind. I'm glad I figured this out in the store rather than being disappointed when they came in the mail. Overall: I am one happy camper with the Melissa Button ... totally worth the splurge.

So, so happy!I read many of the reviews before ordering ... wasn't really sure what to expect because all of the reviews are very different... ... had ultimately imagined in my head was what I received. First, I want to start of by saying that I'm a medium, athletic build. I was in cheerleading and gymnastics for over 15 years, so my calf muscles measure about 16". I was concerned that the extended calf wouldn't fit, ... really relived when I slipped the Frye Melissa Button right on. I also think that the cut of this ... really flattering on larger calves. I am also a size 10, which I ordered. I believe that ... fit very true to size. I love the leather - I got ... cognac. The color was a bit deeper red/brown than I anticipated, ... still love ... first day I wore ... really beat up my feet (I had blisters on the inside of my heel, which I never get blisters there, along with right under my ankle bone); however, my feet got used to the ... were definitely worth the cost to me... I want to order another pair (once I save up some more money!).

Beautiful and elegant... look as expensive as ... - which is a relief! Great fit, true to size, and the extended calf makes all the difference. The leather is excellent quality and I don't think ... slouch - ... not meant to. The soles are quite slick and made of leather, so I took ... cobbler for a scuff pad and an extra rubber heel piece before I wear ... - so that ... last longer. I have a pair of italian ... have treated this way and resoled 4 or 5 times over 6 or 7 years - treat ... right and ... never wear out. A keeper!

Frye Melissa Button ... Love, love, love these ... They're the perfect color (cognac) and just distressed enough to look worn in w/o looking sloppy. Fix is great, true to size. It has a comfortable fit - you can feel a slight lift in the heel area ... contours to a regular fit in the front. Pants fit inside with ease, ... look just as great w/ a skirt. I have skinny calfs and these don't make me look like I'm wearing my moms ... they're also not too tight so that I can't wear ... w/ jeans.

Great ... some challenges ... great boots--gorgeous, in fact. ... difficult to get on and off (I have a high instep) and ... have a bit of a hump on the sole where the heel meets the rest of the ... which can be a bit uncomfortable if you are doing a lot of walking. ... overall ... worth it. I think ... run a bit large in size so I'd order a half size down or just roll with the extra toe space.

Just lovely, but Fryes run huge. (Long review because I think such a high price warrants knowing details of what you''re buying!)I wish I could give these a 4.5 - the appearance is nearly perfect, but all Frye ... have fit/sizing quirks that sort of get on my nerves. If they were cheaper, this would be excusable, but for the price, those quirks warrant a 4. If you're reading the reviews, you probably want to know about those negative or unexpected aspects before spending over $300, so I'll mention those first (but that doesn't mean that the positive doesn't outweigh the negative or that I would change much about these ... I'm still keeping them, and it was still worth it [...]. NOT SO-GOOD: 1. The soles seem relatively durable (some Frye ... have thinner soles than I like), which is nice, but lots of Fryes have pretty smooth bottoms, so be careful with them on slippery surfaces when they're new - the traction will be questionable until you scuff up the soles yourself a bit. 2. Like with all Frye ... I've tried on, it was tough to get my foot to fit through the ankle of the ... pull tabs help a ton. (Getting them off is even harder, ... it's worth it. I think that aspect of the fit prevents you from interrupting this really smooth leather silhouette with zippers or gores while making for a good, stable fit once they are on.) 3. Along the same lines, I have pretty average calves - not tiny, ... rarely have trouble with any ... not fitting over them - and I never need a wide shaft ... these come close to being too tight (just barely enough space to cram jeans in with no room left over), so if your calves are bigger, you may not like these. 4. Most important to know: the sizing. I wear an 8 in almost every flat or heel, an 8-8.5 in most ... (sometimes need extra sock room) and 8.5-9 in running shoes. The 8 in Fryes leaves at least an inch between my big toe and the end of the shoe (even with moderately thick socks). I have a 7.5 in these and it's still quite roomy in the toe box - I could go smaller if I had narrow feet and skinny calves, ... if I went down more with my foot shape the midfoot would be super tight. I'm sticking with the 7.5 and there will be nice room for socks and toe wiggling... and maybe insoles because arch support in Fryes isn't great ... then again my extreme over pronation makes me picky). ... might add some of this extra toe room intentionally - I think I'm used to less since modern shoes, especially nice women's shoes, tend to love the narrow toe box, which is what we're all used to, ... end it's better for your feet if your toes can spread naturally and aren't crammed up against anything.) Now for the really GOOD aspects: 1. Like all the Frye ... I've seen, these have beautiful leather. It looks like you could never wear it out. I have the Fawn color, and I love it. I didn't want a high polish appearance; I wanted a soft looking ... not super distressed) brown, medium dark, and that's exactly what I got. It's not a very warm brown - there's an underlying dark greyish hue - ... like that because the color is really neutral while still being attractive on its own. Perfect and will match about anything. 2. The simple silhouette is really nice (if you, like me, are not a huge fan of cowboyish or overly rugged-and chunky silhouettes). 3. Short girls like me, take note: I'm not quite-5'4" and not leggy (~30 inch inseam), and there are many beautiful knee high Frye ... styles that I can't wear at all because the shaft comes all the way to the middle of my knee. However these hit just where ... should! Yay! (Also good for short girls who want knee high Fryes - the Shirley Riding ... [not the over knee Shirley, ... knee high one with two buckles] which has a top that is made so that it can be cuffed down to a reasonable height. (If you're tall/leggy, know that the Melissa ... probably not come all the way up to right below your knee.) [...]

Soooo wanted these to work!I ordered these ... after trying them on in a store. When I received the 8.5 size ... way too big, (even though I thought I had tried on the same size in the store). I loved them so much I decided to order the next size down (8) and received ... last night. I immediately tried ... guess what???? ... still didn't work. I think my foot is too narrow, because my heel was slipping in and out of the ... every step. I love the feel of the leather and the look of the ... just isn't going to work for me I guess. I had to send ... back. I have wanted a pair of Frye ... years, ... couldn't justify the price. Now I can, and ... don't even fit me. I am trying to read reviews of other ... hoping to find something that will work for a 5'9", skinny calf, narrow foot girl. HELP!

Worth ItThese boots are absolutely gorgeous. I am between sizes 9 1/2 & 10. I decided to go with the dark brown size 10 but they were way too big. I was literally walking out of the shoe. I returned them to Piperlime (at no cost), and got the 9 1/2. They were a bit tight in the toe and the heel, but after a few days they have molded very well to my foot. I adore these boots.

So worth the painOkay so I've wanted these ... forever but did not want to foot the bill. I finally caved and in a moment of utter disregard for frugality bought them. I'm normally a 10.5/11 but ordered the 10 since thats all they had. They are snug and the back of my heels were torn up the first time I wore them but I slapped on some mole skin and thinner socks and committed myself to the pain because these ... gorgeous and I'd rather get compliments then be able to walk.

What a nice ... I bought these Frye boots in black last year and I’m very pleased with my purchase. They’re really well made. The leather is so soft. And they were immediately comfortable (no painful breaking in!). I’ve had trouble with boots like this in the past, because my calves are a little wide. But these are nice and roomy. Even with jeans tucked in! Can’t say enough good things about these boots. I’m officially a Frye fan.

Frye Dorado Riding ... I searched for gray boots for two years, and tried many on during this time. I always found myself coming back to look at the Dorado Riding boots. I could never justify purchasing them because of the price; I finally decided to try them. I was lucky and have several coupons and discounts that I could use that made the price more tolerable to the checkbook. I had to send the first pair back because they had a huge scuff on one. The first pair were a little snug in the foot bed, I was so disappointed because the boots are gorgeous in person. Piperlime was great, I returned the first pair and received the second pair (scuff free!) When I tried them on, the foot bed felt better. I finally had the chance to wear these boots, they are well worth the price. They are so comfortable, look classy and I have received several compliments on them already. This is my first Frye purchase, but they definitely live up to what I have heard about them!

Darn! I really wanted these ... These ... some of the most gorgeous ... I've seen yet but I had to return them because they were a little snug in the front, which I could've lived with by stretching but my heels slipped as well so I had to return them. Boo hoo...

Shaft height incorrectThese boots are absolutely amazing. I am 5'1 and the shaft is reficulously tall...over the knee. The description says 15" shaft, I measured them to the highest point (excluding heel) and they measure in at 17" shaft height. Sadly, I either have to have them tailored ;'( or find another pair which I can't seem to find. Good luck!

Gorgeous boots just SOO uncomfortableI loved these boots. I was stalking these boots for weeks, but being so expensive I never had the nerve to buy them. I finally decided, after weeks of looking at them online, that "I'm worth it" and bought them. I ended up ordering the black ones in a 9.5 and the dark brown ones in a 9. I am a true size 9, but after reading all the reviews I wasn't sure which would fit better. The black ones arrived first. The 9.5 was too long but because of that it fit the width of my foot. But with that being said they were still way too long and my heel slipped a lot because they were just too big. Also the black looked too much like a motorcycle ... going more for an equestrian look. I returned them and waited for the other pair. When the brown ones arrived I was so excited. The look was PERFECT. The style of this ... beautiful and just what I was looking for in a riding ... Unfortunately, the fit is wear it lacks. It is SO NARROW that it squeezed my foot so much it was throbbing. I thought I could stretch them out, but after DAYS of walking around the house it wasn't much better. They are just too expensive to hope that they stretch out, I had to return them. Even though I loved them and wanted them to work in the worst way, they had to go back. They were just too uncomfortable. I'll miss you Dorado boots.

Beautiful, but they hurt my feetThese boots are gorgeous...the leather is soft and supple and the workmanship is supurb! I read all the reviews about the way they fit in the heel, but decided to find out for myself. Well, they were right. They were so uncomfortable on my feet and my heel kept slipping...I had to send them back. I hated to, but for the money, I couldn't justify the pain!

DisappointedThe ... very pretty, but the heel slippage is unbearable and they are quite wide and lumpy around the ankle. I wanted to like these, but they are going back.
Killer ... (but not in a good way) These ... absolutely beautiful, don't get me wrong, but the fit is terrible. I have a relatively narrow foot and these squeezed my toes. The worst part was the blisters on the backs on my heels. I couldn't do anything to relieve the intense pain these caused me. Since they felt tight, I gave them to a friend who wears a size smaller - same terrible blisters for her! It is too bad, but they seem to be cursed.
not a good fitThe quality is great, but I have a narrow foot and even with a sock on there was major slippage in the heel area. I had to return them.
