Get the Melissa ... if you''re short and have narrow calves! I had my heart set on the Paige riding ... However, I had to return them...I'm 5'2" and they overwhelmed by short legs. My calves are also narrow and the large shaft opening looked weird. I hated to do it, but I returned them. Enter the Melissa riding ... They fit me so much better and look great on. I love the look of the Paige ... but the Melissa ... just work better given my size/frame.

worth the splurgeThis is my 3rd pair of Fryes (I have the Carson riding ... 8" Engineers). The workmanship is consistently good, the ... feels and smells great, and the fit is superb. I usually wear 7.5, sometimes 8. My Carson ... 7.5, and they have stretched out considerably, to the point where i need to wear thicker socks. I ordered the Melissa Button ... 7. They were tight around the toes for the first few days, but they have started to loosen up a bit. I know they're only going to get better. Love these ...

Perfect ... There are a lot of ... market with bells and whistles, but this is the perfect basic riding ... pair with EVERYTHING. I've only had them for a few weeks and each time I have worn them, someone comes up to me to ask who makes them. You really can't go wrong with a Frye ...

Best riding ... ever! The Melissa Button ... my favorite riding ... ever. Yes, they are pricey but these ... investment piece. Frye ... last a lifetime. I have owned a pair in black for two years now and just recently got the cognac. I am excited every fall when I can get these ... out of my closet. I live in Texas, so weather permitting I can't wear these year round. I would highly recommend these ... normally wear a 10 in Frye shoes but these run a half size small so I wear a 9.5. You won't regret purchasing these ... They are totally worth the money!

I''m in LOVE with these boots!I got these on the recommendation of a friend - I didn't even think they'd be the ones I'd keep. Then I took them out of the box. First I saw the color (I got the cognac, which is gorgeous) and then, I felt the leather. Let's face it, a lot of people don't have a ton of money to spend, or you save or make a good excuse to spend more on something. I'm a pretty decent Cole Haan addict, and even with the boots I have from there, I looked at these and thought, really, this much for boots? Let me just say, they're totally worth it. These are the boots that you'll wear in to that perfectly cool, worn in stage where they feel like a piece of you. The kicker is, they're that comfortable within the first hour of putting them on. The leather molds to your feet, they're the perfect calf width so you can wear skinny jeans inside but still wear ... cut on top. And even with my super long legs, the height is fantastic. Seriously, the first night out in these boots, a stranger on the street stopped me to ask what they were and where she could get them. Yes, they're that good. I hesitated at first telling people this, but seriously, I have been looking for this ... few years at this point so just bite the bullet, pay for them and start your lifelong love now. The only remaining question for me is if I can justify having them in more than one color...

love them! They are so beautiful and perfect. The ... takes a few wears to break in to where it's comfortable, but they are so worth it. The height is perfect if you tend to have problems with the regular height ... Most riding ... generally come a little too high, hitting the bottom of my knee, but these are perfect.

Love them- worth the price! If you are reading this, it means you are seriously debating ordering these ... want to tell you, DO IT! You won't regret it. I ordered the Melissa button ... black hoping for a nice, timeless yet hip black ... winter. I wanted something that wasn't too matronly and buttoned up, that I could wear with skinny jeans, leggings, and short dresses. Maybe a bare leg if the weather was nice. :) I also ride horses and don't want to spend the money for riding ... so these will be great for that too- and there is nothing like a little horse poo to make your ... look even more lived in and loved! :) I have always loved the style of the Frye campus but it is a little too biker chic for my everyday need or wearing to work. So I ordered Melissa and I wasn't disappointed! These ... arrived and it was obvious they were a great quality product. Very thick, supple ... heavy yet flexible and I just know they will wear wonderfully once they are broken in! And the smell! Oh, heavenly! I keep getting whiffs of it and I just smile. :) As for sizing, I am usually a 7 but as most reviewers suggested, I bought a 6.5 and immediately one went on easily. The other one was a little tighter and I had to use the plastic bag trick (I think one of my feet is larger than the other- it wasn't a flaw with the ... They were comfortable right off the bat and didn't rub or squeeze too much with a thin sock and jeans on. I should mention that I have an impossibly high instep and the first night I got them, I wore a thicker sock with my skinny jeans and I could feel the tightness in my instep, but today I wore tights and they were great all day. I am a petite 5'2', 115 with thin calves and the tops of the ... nicely snug so if you have any concerns about your calf width, try the extended calf. Usually high ... like these are baggy on me but these fit well at the top, although by the ankle there is ample room. I love these and can't wait to wear them for years to come!!!!!!!

Not Quite a Riding ... Great Frye quality as ever and perfectly true to size but the shaft height seemed low - more of a cowboy ... height than the riding ... look I wanted. Great ... if you are looking for something that's closer to mid calf (I'm 5'7")

Just lovely, but Fryes run huge. (Long review because I think such a high price warrants knowing details of what you''re buying!)I wish I could give these a 4.5 - the appearance is nearly perfect, but all Frye boots have fit/sizing quirks that sort of get on my nerves. If they were cheaper, this would be excusable, but for the price, those quirks warrant a 4. If you're reading the reviews, you probably want to know about those negative or unexpected aspects before spending over $300, so I'll mention those first (but that doesn't mean that the positive doesn't outweigh the negative or that I would change much about these boots). I'm still keeping them, and it was still worth it [...]. NOT SO-GOOD: 1. The soles seem relatively durable (some Frye boots have thinner soles than I like), which is nice, but lots of Fryes have pretty smooth bottoms, so be careful with them on slippery surfaces when they're new - the traction will be questionable until you scuff up the soles yourself a bit. 2. Like with all Frye boots I've tried on, it was tough to get my foot to fit through the ankle of the ... but the pull tabs help a ton. (Getting them off is even harder, but it's worth it. I think that aspect of the fit prevents you from interrupting this really smooth leather silhouette with zippers or gores while making for a good, stable fit once they are on.) 3. Along the same lines, I have pretty average calves - not tiny, but I rarely have trouble with any boots not fitting over them - and I never need a wide shaft ... but these come close to being too tight (just barely enough space to cram jeans in with no room left over), so if your calves are bigger, you may not like these. 4. Most important to know: the sizing. I wear an 8 in almost every flat or heel, an 8-8.5 in most boots (sometimes need extra sock room) and 8.5-9 in running shoes. The 8 in Fryes leaves at least an inch between my big toe and the end of the shoe (even with moderately thick socks). I have a 7.5 in these and it's still quite roomy in the toe box - I could go smaller if I had narrow feet and skinny calves, but if I went down more with my foot shape the midfoot would be super tight. I'm sticking with the 7.5 and there will be nice room for socks and toe wiggling... and maybe insoles because arch support in Fryes isn't great (but then again my extreme over pronation makes me picky). (They might add some of this extra toe room intentionally - I think I'm used to less since modern shoes, especially nice women's shoes, tend to love the narrow toe box, which is what we're all used to, but in the end it's better for your feet if your toes can spread naturally and aren't crammed up against anything.) Now for the really GOOD aspects: 1. Like all the Frye boots I've seen, these have beautiful leather. It looks like you could never wear it out. I have the Fawn color, and I love it. I didn't want a high polish appearance; I wanted a soft looking (but not super distressed) brown, medium dark, and that's exactly what I got. It's not a very warm brown - there's an underlying dark greyish hue - but I like that because the color is really neutral while still being attractive on its own. Perfect and will match about anything. 2. The simple silhouette is really nice (if you, like me, are not a huge fan of cowboyish or overly rugged-and chunky silhouettes). 3. Short girls like me, take note: I'm not quite-5'4" and not leggy (~30 inch inseam), and there are many beautiful knee high Frye ... styles that I can't wear at all because the shaft comes all the way to the middle of my knee. However these hit just where they should! Yay! (Also good for short girls who want knee high Fryes - the Shirley Riding ... [not the over knee Shirley, but the knee high one with two buckles] which has a top that is made so that it can be cuffed down to a reasonable height. (If you're tall/leggy, know that the Melissa boots will probably not come all the way up to right below your knee.) [...]

Wanted them to work...These ... were beautiful until I tried them on. As I read in other reviews, they were hard to get on and off. I am 5'7 and athletic...with 15 1/2 inch calves. These books fit around my calve ok but if you look closely you can see that the top of the shaft, in the back, curves back in toward your leg rather than just going strait up. That spot on the ... pushed into my calve and made my leg look funny. If you have really skinny legs they will probably work for you. Beautiful durable ... nice construction and top quality typical of Frye...i just couldn't stand the fit. I returned them and bought the Paige Tall Riding ... couldn't be happier with those.

Perfect Riding ... ... every bit worth the money...they look, feel and smell amazing! The ... has a robust quality and has impeccable detail. I purchased in Cognac and the color is awesome: variegated, medium brown. I'm 5'9" and ... come right above my shins--a perfect height. The fit is roomy enough to tuck your pencil jeans into or wear with leggings without looking bulky. ... pull on, which I find gives a cleaner look. I didn't have a problem getting ... taking off...I typically wear 8.5 in flats and that size fit me perfectly with enough room to wear heavier socks if need be. I will be enjoying ... years to come :)

Finally!!I have been looking for the perfect pair of congac ... 2 years and I finally found ... key for me was sizing down a half size. I almost always wear an 8 which is the size I originally ordered for ... recieved ... loved the ... felt too clunky and ... were too tall. I was really disappointed because I knew ... were the ... wanted ... didn't think ... were going to work for me. I decided to go ahead and try the 7.5 since piperlime is great with returns ... luckily ... were perfect. I recieved my ... November and love ... even more today!

Great quality, worth the price! My husband recently bought me the Paige Tall Riding ... cognac for my birthday. I am 5'4 and have an average to slim build. ... fit true to size and are absolutely stunning. The ... soft and the color is so rich. ... hit right below the knee and there is just enough room for skinny jeans or leggings inside. ... were definitely an investment and will be a wardrobe staple for years to come!

Sooo pleased!!!I'm in love!!! I ... been on a "perfect ... hunt for months and AHHHH I finally found it in the paige ... ordered the cognac color and love the color. ... so comfortable too. ... go with everything..black, brown, dress up, dress down. I will live in ... fall to spring! ... worth the $ and will be a staple in my closet.

Another Amazing Pair of Frye ... I had been looking for the perfect pair of black ... forever, and I had always loved the Frye Paige Riding ... so after searching forever (and trying not to get another pair of Frye's since I already own 3 pairs), I realized that Frye's were my favorite for a very good reason and that the Paige ... would be the way to go. These ... AMAZING. I have very thin calves so I was slightly worried since some reviewers were commenting on how the ... were great for big calves, but since the ... very structured and sturdy, it doesn't make the ... slouch at all. It is so hard to find black ... do not look like combat ... hooker ... but these fit the bill. Plus, I love the lack of hardware with ... detailing instead, so that they are not entirely plain but still do not clash with any metals.

LOVEI just wrote a not so great review about the Veronica Slouch Frye's, so I wanted to write a raving review about the Paige Tall Riding. I got ... Piperlime last year in December. I wear ... religiously in the fall and winter, and ... have held up beautifully. The ... still as soft and buttery as it was when I pulled ... out of the box a year ago. ... fit comfortably over jeans, ... don't stick out too much when you wear ... sweater dress or leggings. My only two complaints: 1.) ... have developed some creasing at the ankle (lazy ... syndrome). I store ... box ... came in on their side, so maybe ... would have done better if I stored ... upright with a ... tree. 2.) I ordered ... tan color, and the pull on tabs and the tops and insides of the ... have absorbed some of the dye from wearing ... over denim. Nothing too noticeable, ... it's definitely there. Other than that ... great ... would highly recommend ...

LOVE LOVE LOVE!I ... been looking for a new pair of black ... quite some time now. It seems that every pair I tried on looked like fireman ... were way too clunky and definitely not feminine! I'm glad I held out for the right pair because ... beautiful! Great quality, and the perfect height for me. (I'm 5'7", so I don't like when ... only come up to mid calf on me that are supposed to be just below the knee.) Well worth the price!

The Perfect Riding ... ... most perfect riding ... ever. The ... beyond top quality. Looks great in the picture, andeven better in person. Very stylish, and VERY comfortable, I can fit my skinny jeans into ... have thin to athletic legs. I wear ... non stop and ... still look great. I am am always a 9 1/2, so I took a risk (since others reviewed as small) and bought the 9 1/2. Glad I did, ... fit perfectly, even a little room for thicker socks in the really cold weather. I don't recommend wearing ... out in wet weather, ... more of a fashion riding ... rather than an all weather riding ... were worth every single penny and I hope ... make ... forever!!

Frye Paige Tall ... Love my new Frye Paige Tall ... were hard to get on and off at first, ... more I wear ... easier it gets. ... particular ... do not ... wax shine that the Frye Paige ... Frye's company site. I will ... forever. A great investment.

They''re worth itLike a lot of people who have bought these ... hesitant to shell out the extra money for them, but I've also been looking for the perfect brown flat ... multiple seasons now, with nothing that struck me, until now. I got them in Cognac, size 9, which is what I generally wear for most shoes. ... fit well -- don't size down. You'll regret it. I thought I might consider putting insoles in them, but it feels too tight when I do that. I also didn't run into the issue of having trouble pulling them on or off, like many others seemed to. As for the look and feel -- the ... looks rich, substantial and 'not cheap'. You can tell these ... real deal and will last forever. The shaft height is perfect, ending right below my knee (I am 5'8"). I admit, ... tiny bit stiffer than I'm used to with ... out of the box, but I imagine a lot of it has to do with the fact that they're riding ... thicker ... than average. I assume that will improve over time, as they've been breaking in gradually over the last couple weeks I've had ... only reason I didn't give these 5 stars, vs. 4 is that my pinky toes get a little irritated after a day of wearing ... Not sure what that is about. Other than that, I love these and find ... pretty stylish and comfortable. I don't regret the expense one bit.

Not super impressedOk, so I splurged and bought the paige tall riding ... cognac. ... kept pushing back the delivery so I was supposed to get it in December but ended up getting today. The ... smells wonderful and is very thick. Runs true to size to slightly big. I like the length as I am 5'9". But three things I don't like: The profile shape of the base of the ... not very flattering; I mean, ... start the shaft before or at my arch and about 1 and a half inches before my ankle, so that it makes my lower leg look wide from the side at the ankle, sort of like rain ... 2) the heel is so short that I thought I would like it, being tall and all, but it is not very flattering and 3) the extra layer of ... makes the frontal view of the ... very wide, which is also not flattering--at least for me. I normally have long slender legs ... actually make me look shorter and chunkier, by stopping the visual line that normally runs along my legs (not good for me since this is really my main asset! Lastly, ... just not sexy or cute. So if you are looking for sexy or cute, keep looking! If you want everyday casual ... may work. If ... were way cheaper I would keep ... price I want to like ... WAY more than I do! Bummer I have to send ... back after waiting so long! Maybe sometime I'll try the Melissa Button ...

Love ''emMy first pair of Frye boots and I just love them. Very comfortable. Spent a full day walking around NYC while wearing them. I tend to be between an 8 1/2 and 9 (one foot a little bigger than the other) so I decided to go 1/2 size down. I'm glad I did. The only thing I recommend is buying the leather protector spray at time of purchase. I didn't think of it and had to make a trip to find it. Highly recommend these boots.

Veronica Slouch BootsThese boots are everything I expected. I absolutely love Frye boots and these are no exception. Based on the other reviews I was concerned that they would run small, however, I took a chance and ordered my standard size 8.5 and they fit perfectly. They are so cute and comfortable. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE them.

About the Sizing. . .This is for any of you out there wondering about which size to get. Warning: sizes sell out fast so you may want to order 2 and send one back! After trying many pairs on, here it is: If you are between half sizes the Frye website actually tells you to order a size down. Instead, I chose to follow the reviews I read all over that said to order a size up on this style. I usually wear a size 8.5 & sometimes a 9 in running shoes, so I ordered a 9. It would have worked IF I wanted to wear thick socks (like hiking socks), however the calf was a lot larger too (my calf size is 12.5 inches) and they didn't look right (the two different buckles can be adjusted to smaller/larger but on the smallest hole they look really wrinkled/weird). The actual measurement difference between sizes is only a few centimeters but it is amazing how much of a difference it makes. Luckily, there were still 8.5's left and those were perfect for me. I like the feel of a knee high sock with them and most of those type of socks are pretty thin. As far as comfort with a thin sock they are perfectly comfortable right from the start. Also, the leather in the foot area will stretch slightly. The Frye site also says that heel slippage is normal and will stop after awhile. It hasn't bothered me. I have a flat foot so they are so easy to put on but someone with a high arch might have a harder time. As far as the calf circumference- they could be even a little smaller for me- but they look fine with skinny jeans and okay with skirts. With a small calf, they don't really slouch unless you push them down. The quality is beautiful (although I had to send back one flawed pair in the process). They sole can be resoled in the future so I know I will have them for many years to come. I wish Piperlime had the Frye Leather Conditioners. I get compliments every time I wear them. And that is the end of the longest review ever.

buy these bootsMy husband bought me these boots 6 years ago in the slate. They are probably my favorite pair of boots and I have many, many pairs of boots. They look great with everything!! I usually wear a 7.5 but ordered in an 8 (I tried them on locally in black) they were a little hard to get on the first time, even had to unbuckle at the ankle. They took no time to break in and talk about durable, the quality is excellent. I stand on my feet all day as a hairstylist and they are super comfy. I have worn these boots doing the hands on renovation of my salon, working all day, and even had a spray paint can leak silver paint all over them, thought they were ruined. I cleaned them off with paint thinner, which made them stiff and white and chalky, but a little saddle soap and they looked even better than new and softer. I constantly get compliments on them, the more distressed they get the better they look.

Very Nice!I previously ordered the Frye Paige Tall ... because of its simplicity and the riding ... look, but I liked them okay. For the money, I want to love the boot..so, after looking at the other Frye boots, I come upon Veronica. I loved the fit right away and threw on some skinnys and they looked great. The color, dark brown, is lovely and the leather is very nice. They fit perfect on my legs, which are athletic, with room to spare. These are my first pair of Fryes, but probably not my last.

MUST HAVE BOOTS!I own these boots in slate, and I wear them ALL the time! They go with everything and look so stylish and beautiful. There was a brief breaking in period with these, but now they fit like a dream and are sooo comfortable. I love FRYE, and these boots live up to the quality and style that you would expect from Frye. I get compliments galore on these boots! I don't think I could live without them.

After much trial and error...I have been wanting a pair of frye boots forever, and decided to finally invest. I have ordered at least 5 different styles in multiple sizes, and gone to every store that sells them around me. I have normal sized calves, but every single ... tight and there was no way I was able to tuck in a pair of boots. The Veronica sloch is the best I could find, so while I like the ... would not have been my first choice. Definitely well made and good quality. Pretty color. Look great with skirts and socks poking out the top.

Nice, but didn''t really fall in love with the colorI love the style of the boots, it was comfortable when I tried them on out of the box. I ordered a 6.5 because boots are usually too big in my usual 7 and I like wearing thinner socks rather than the thick ones. I say order up though if you plan on wearing thicker socks and your actual size will be perfect. I did return these though because I didn't fall in love with the color. It's vintage dark brown with the crackly look. Maybe over time it would have looked great. I wish they would have had the gaucho color or brushed off leather brown look.

yummmooooSo these boots were so beautiful when I saw them online, I just had to have them!!!! so I ordered them and then when they came in the mail they were scuffed and someone had deff worn them.....so I called and spoke with a very nice woman who fixed the problem really fast and was very helpfull. My new boots came in the mail and they were fab!!! I sized up. I wear a 8 so I got a 8 1/2. I was once told at a ... store that you should always have a little bit of lift in a ... all in things happen and I got my boots and am happy :)

gorgeous boots!I've been eyeing these boots for some time, and finally decided to take the splurge. Am I ever glad I did! I normally wear a 7 1/2 but based upon other reviews and having very high arches and being afraid I might not be able to get my feet into a 7 1/2, I chose to go w/ the 8s. They do slip a little on my heel if I'm not wearing thick enough socks, but other than that the fit is great. No issues whatsoever getting them on or off, and they were incredibly comfortable right out of the box! I have very sensitive feet, so this is saying something. I also tend to have larger calves and have had difficulty with other tall boots, but I'm able to wear these with ... socks and skinny jeans and have room to spare. The leather is gorgeously soft; I'm giving them 4 stars b/c I thought they were made in the US but instead are made in China.

Beautiful ... I have been eyeing these boots for a few years now. They are absolutely beautiful! I purchased these here and they were everything I'd imagined they'd be. Unfortuantely, I had to return them because I do have rather large calves and these ... fit quite snug without any skinny jeans on (just my bare legs). I've always had large calves and often have trouble finding boots that fit. I took a chance with these and i'm sad to say that they didn't work out for me. I will absolutely re order these if they become available in the large calf size!
