Love These Kicks This is my first time purchasing Frye brand boots, and I'm quite pleased. The style is incredible, they are a comfortable, supportive ... really love the color of the brown leather. The only thing I found that might deter some people is the fact that getting them on if you have a high arch is a bit of a workout. (i.e. the first time I put them on my neighbor had to pull on the shaft while I used all of my weight to jam my foot in). It was comical, but once my foot slipped into the squishy Frye cacoon, I was sold.

I had read sooo many great reviews and advice about breaking them in so I decided it was at least worth a try. SOOOO glad I didn't return them! I bought this liquid leather stretch stuff from a shoe repair store and soaked the inside of them with it. I then wore them around all day. They boots are now perfectly formed to my feet. They are SUPER comfortable and I feel like I could kick some serious butt in them if needed LOL. They look great with my jeans tucked into them. They are going to be perfect for wet and cold Chicago winters. I highly recommend!

The boots are perfect! So versatile and comfy. The first time I wore them I was in Vegas and walked all day without any problems. Love the boots!!!

It took a few times of wearing to get them broken in, but they never caused serious pain. love love love. would recommend them to anyone. I'm short so the height on these doesn't make me look even shorter. and the heel is just enough! I can't wait to get my next pair of Frye's!

The color and quality of the boots is awesome and I think that I am going to enjoy them for a very long time. Very excited about wearing them with skirts, dresses, and jeans. Classic. Frye Engineers are, without question, the finest boots I've ever owned. I read a lot of recommendations that said to go up a 1/2 size, but unless you need ultra thick socks, I wouldn't. These boots are tough, sturdy, look cooler the more worn in they become, and adjust well when the straps are tightened. The first day of wear was comfortable, but admittedly I blistered like mad after extended wear. But now they're pretty much bedroom slipper comfortable. I took the advice of the manufacturer and treated the leather and seams with mink oil, and they've retained their shape and color and gained some water resistance. They can be ornery to get on the first few times, but I compare the fit to a slim cowboy ... shaft. I'd steer clear of light colored socks until the insides are well worn, or you'll be looking at some stained heels and toes. But if you like firm footing and a high arch, you have found your Valhalla.
a wardrobe staple... I own 2 other pairs of Frye boots, but somehow this pair seemed to round out my footwear selection. They feel a little heavy after a while, which is what I expected of an engineer ... They're casual and a good height for my short legs. I'm happy with my purchase.
I wanted a pair of really sturdy leather boots for a while. I tried a few different pairs of fryes before settling on these. I'm short, so they don't overwhelm my legs or come up too high like taller styles do. They're a really flattering, versatile height. I think I'll be able to wear them through spring and fall as well as winter. The leather is stiff initially and the first couple times wearing the is painful but bearable. Make sure you have thick socks. My only complaint is the heel. I wish it were just a little less chunky.
Fantastic! I have been wanting a pair of Frye's for a very long time! I was in the "why spend almost $300 on a pair when I can get a pair that is similar for [$]", however, I have jumped ship! That great saying, you get what you pay for! These boots are AHHHH Mazing, and for someone who has a wonderful collection of leather boots from Italy, Spain and South America, I have to say these are at the very top of the best! They are thick leather so for the first couple of wears you are going to need to wear thick socks to break them in. They are a great ... just about anything! I'm extremely flat footed so it was a pain to get these on at first, but now, there's no problem. These boots are totally worth the $$$ and do not look cheap!

Amazing. These are my first pair of Frye boots but certainly not my last!! I've had these since summer and they are my most favorite boots ever! When I received them they were a little more cowgirl than I had hoped but I fell in love with them anyway! I got them in the Dark Brown color and they are really rugged looking!! Perfect height they hit mid calf and you can dress them up or down depending on your style! Defiantly an all year-round ... I've gotten so many compliments on them and I feel like I can conquer the world in them! You defiantly get what you pay for and I certainly wouldn't think twice about buying another pair of Frye boots!
Beautiful I love these. The color and heel height are perfect. They are still breaking in but I can tell they will last many years. I met a girl wearing my same boots, only her's were 2 years older and they look amazing! Oh, I have 15 inch calves and wear size 8.5, they fit perfect.

I love these boots! I own multiple pairs of Frye boots but never managed to purchase a pair of the Harness boots until now and I love them! They're comfortable and I don't see a problem with the stiffness of the ... tan color because I'm sure they will soften up like most Frye leathers. They do run a half size large so I would suggest purchasing a half size down. I can't wait to wear these with jeans, dresses, skirts, and on rainy days!
favorite boots I got these boots 1/2 size smaller because they run big and will strech. At fisrt it was harder to get in but once I got in and walked in them for awhile they streched quickly. I have another pair that I bought in my size and cannot wear them anymore since they are too big now. I have the brown crazy horse color and love it. It has this aged look about them. Great with jeans. The neg is I have yet to find socks that would stay on in these boots. Not a big deal though. Would buy and recomend them anyway.
cool boots Love these cool boots. Had to try on 10 and 91/2 to decide on the size. I have size 10 and that was definitely too big. Kept the 91/2 eventhough a bit tight in the width~believing it will strech. Had a hard time with the quality. I had to exchange them several times because each pair had some defects. Would recomend the boots, but order your size and a half size smaller to compare. Overall I would recomend the boots.
Impressive These boots are great! I would recommend to anyone. I'm saying normal width, true to size, but they are a smidge roomy. And, I have pretty big calves, so I was concerned after reading these reviews about needing assistance to get the ... off.... no fear. The calf area had plenty of room and there is no problem getting on or off. LOVE THEM!
A Classic! I didn't buy my Frye's from Piperlime, but I had to write a review for anyone who is on the fence about these...I have had these boots for 7+ years now and I LOVE them. I wear them all the time. They are super comfortable and really durable. When I first bought them, they took a little getting used to since they are quite heavy, but after that, they are fantastic. They look great out of the box, but they weather so beautifully, they only get better with age. Mine are beaten up and now somewhat burnished looking, and they keep getting better! I highly recommend these boots!
These boots rule! I am a big Frye fan, I love their harness, campus, engineer and cowboy boots. They last forever - I have a pair of harness boots that are 18 years old and I had them re heeled and re soled and they will probably last another 18... If you can own only one pair of Frye's I would recommend these- they work well with just about anything, so versatile.
3rd Time''s a Charm I am a size 8 but ordered a half size down after reading other reviews, size 7.5 was tight and I struggled even getting my foot in the ... returned them and got the size 8, which fit perfectly but I was surprised by what a light brown/orangish the boots turned out to be. They looked nothing like the Dark Brown Crazy Horse pictures on [@]. Plus they were way too distressed for my taste. The last pair of 8's I received are still lighter than I expected but were a much better finish. I was so confused that I went to [...] website and saw that their photo looked just like the boots I had gotten! Don't get me wrong, I love the boots - great quality- and [...] was very helpful, but it would be nice to know what you are ordering. My advice, stick to your normal size unless you have narrow feet & check out [...] for a better idea of the Dark Brown Crazy Horse color.
Quality expected of Frye Fun boots, glad they are one of the big styles of the season. Good with short jean skirts or over jeans. Too wide to go under most ... cut jeans, though. ... gorgeous, and the boots feel like they will last for decades.
MAGIC WAY TO GET THESE BEAUTIFUL BOOTS ON! These boots, and also the Melissa boots, are very hard to pull on because they're narrow at the ankle. But I have the answer! While trying on boots in a dept store, and struggling to get them on, the sales assistant gave me a plastic bag. She had me put the plastic bag, unopened, inside the ... back of the ... then put my foot on top of the plastic and slide in. Worked like magic. Just remove the plastic after you've got the ... (it'll slip out from behind your leg easily).
Gorgeous but painful but GORGEOUS! I've had these a while now, and I'm still trying to get me feet in these comfortably! Oh, but they are sooooo gorgeous! The first time couple times I wore them it was a huge struggle to get my foot in...it seemed the part right over the top of my foot was too tight to slide myself in. Well, that and trying to get my heel into the heel area! I stomped, I yanked, jumped up and down, and even had to get my husband to help! He started laughing, but once I finally got both feet in, they were so beautiful! At first I could feel my toes goe numb! After a couple of wearings, I could feel the leather loosen up. I'm a huge Frye fan, and I noticed my other boots by them usually go through this break in period (although this one was most painful). I get compliments on them all the time, and I absolutely love them! It's so well made, they will last forever! I'm going to start going up half a size because I will never be able to turn my back on Fryes. I compare them to my other boots, and all of my Fryes are hands down a way better quality than many others. I'm even hemming and hawing over another style!
Classic! These boots are classic- great height (not quite over the knee on me- I've got really long calves) but still tall enough to look chic. They're just as pictured in terms of color- but look a little more weathered. I can't tell if that's the shipping wax or how they'll always look. I expect they'll even out, tone wise, as I wear them in. Overall, this is a great pair of boots that will go great with a number of outfits and colors- I can't wait for fall so I can wear them out!
best boots ever! I have many Frye boots which as many of you who have already purchased them know, some styles take some time to break them in, not these boots. They are soft and comfortable, however, if your legs are a bit wide or you have a wide foot, these boots may not be for you. I'm 5'3 and have skinny legs. I absolutely love them and they look great. I love the slate color too. The boots are covered with a powder to enhance the distressed look. I have no problems putting them on. The heel is absolute devine - great support.
Gorgeous! I am thrilled with these boots! The color is amazing...sort of a greyish taupe and goes with everything. The ... buttery soft and slouches just a bit. I am 5'7" and wear somewhere between a 10-1/2 and 11 shoe so I purchased the 11. The first couple of times pulling these on were tough, but once on, the fit was great. The shaft is not too loose, but works great with skinny jeans, tights, and leggings. Uncuffed, the top of these come to just under my knee. The heel hight is great. Overall I am thrilled with my purchase.

Beautiful, high quality boots These boots made my outfit look better. No joke. I was wearing black leggings, a flowy shirt, and a blazer, and the outfit was cute but off. When I tried these on, the effect was immediate. WOW. Everything just seemed to come together, just because of these boots. Maybe it's the ... which is buttery, flexible, and gorgeously colored. Or the length of the ... itself. I am 5'4" with shorter legs, and the top reaches right up above my knees. The boots look cute folded down for a more casual look, but folded up, they really make the legs look longer and slimmer. The color is also beautiful. The slate is a muted grey with darker spots of brown. The result is that it goes with virtually any outfit that has earthy tones. Like the previous reviewer, my right ... slips in fine, but the left ... took some work to get on. Not sure why. I've been wearing them for about a few weeks now, and the left ... easier to put on, though. Overall, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. I was skeptical about the quality level of Frye, but now I am a convert! I will most definitely treat myself to another pair when I save up enough. :)
Beautiful boots These boots are wonderful. They hit right at the knee cap, which I like because it follows the current over the-knee trend, but is not too dramatic. They are great with skirts. These boots are difficult to put on and take off at first, but loosen up with a bit of wear. If you have trouble, try putting your foot in a plastic bag, then slipping your foot in the ... pulling the bag out. Your foot should glide right in.

The ... beautiful, and the style is just perfect. this is my fourth pair of frye boots and i think they are my favorite! the ... little stiff at first but as with most frye boots i think they will soften up after a few wears
I wasn't sure about these at first, but these boots won me over. The break in part was a little tough. I got some blisters the first three times I wore them. Getting them on is still a little hard. Once on, though, they're great. The color is a very warm grey, pretty close to a brown/taupe, really. I used Frye waterproofing balm on them, which darkened the color and evened it out a little, too. The ... seems thick and sturdy - upscale yet casual. I wear them with a few different skirts, but more often with jeans tucked in. I never, ever wear them with the cuff folded - don't like that at all. It messes with the line of the ... looks a little pirate esque to me. I was a little disappointed to see that my pair of boots was made in Mexico and not the US. Overall, though, I'm happy I got them.
really lovely boots I've wanted Frye boots for the longest time, so when I saw these on sale I had to have them. the color is great and goes well with a bag i had just purchased. Its like 100 degrees, so I havent worn them out yet, just around the house. They are really really great, apart from a couple of things: 1. they were covered in a weird white dust. Its wiping off, but it takes some work. I called PL about it, but never heard back....hoping they are still beautiful in the Fall when I get them out of the closet. 2. they color is a little inconsistent where they are pieced together, it doesn't bother me that much, but you can't see it in the picture, so just a head's up.
